Theme of the week - Discovery!

This week, our little swimmers are becoming explorers!

We’ll be encouraging them to discover more of the pool, the equipment and what their bodies can do in the water.

Through songs, play and movement, we’ll be working on:

💦 Confidence - exploring the pool at their own pace

👀 Social learning - watching, copying and learning from others

💕 Trust & security - feeling safe to try something new
with their grown-up

🐙 Movement - bigger reaches, jumps, spins and movements through the water

From floats and watering cans to woggles, mirrors and our big mat, there’s lots to explore!

Theme of the week... Welcome! 🩷🩵

We are so excited to welcome our little swimmers (and their grown-ups!) back to the pool from Thursday onwards this week.

Whether it’s your very first lesson or you are joining us after a Summer break; remember that lessons are child-led, with a focus on both child and parent experiences:

🩵The first time they blow a bubble or smile at their
swimming friend.

🩷That moment they feel brave enough to let go of the
side for the very first time.

🩵The transition from a tiny splash to a confident kick or
a big splash in your face.

🩷Or the pride and confidence that comes with the first
independent swim!

At Baby Squids, our ethos has always been to focus on what your child needs. Some days are for high-energy splashing, and others are for simply feeling the water and building trust.

Taking the time to get the foundations right today creates a confident, water-safe swimmer for life.

A few top tips to help your upcoming swimming classes go... swimmingly!

🩱 Wear your swimwear underneath your clothing for a speedy change on arrival. Don’t forget underwear for later!

🎒Pack one large bag with all your swimming essentials - towels, clothes, drinks etc

🩲 Don’t forget your child’s swim nappy (and a spare!) and happy nappy cover. You’ll also need some normal nappies for after their class.

🍎 Snacks! Swimming always makes our little ones hungry! Don’t forget to bring a post swim snack (or two!) to enjoy once you have left the changing rooms.

🧖‍♀️ Towels - try and leave your towels on top of your bag or easily accessible so that when you leave the pool wet, the towel is easy to grab without having to rummage in a bag!

Little ones also love a hooded towel to keep them nice and warm. Tip-bring 2 so that you can scoop them up and keep them warm after they leave the pool and another for getting dry once back in the changing rooms.

👕 Clothing - wearing something easy to change in and out of for children and adults is a must! Leave the skinny jeans or tights for another day! Onesies and slip on shoes keep things speedy!

🧴 Toiletries including soap, baby wash, nappy cream,
wipes etc.

🔐 Padlock - All our pools have lockers which you’ll need a padlock and key to keep your valuables safely locked away.

🛍️ A separate bag to pop all your wet things into.

With 1 week to go until our first classes start back we’re busy behind the scenes preparing our registers and lesson plans and all things fun!

🩵 We’ve missed seeing our little swimmers and can’t wait to see how much they’ve grown over the 6 week break.

🩷 We have lots of new swimmers joining us from September and we can’t wait to welcome them to the Baby Squids family too!
