Rosegrove (a)
Pre season game number 2 for the girls today and we took the travel across to Burnley to face a well organised Rosegrove squad.
The girls started the game strong and nearly took an early lead.
We then took our foots off the gas and allowed Rosegrove to capitalise on silly errors / mistakes which cost us to go 2-0 down after 12 minutes of play.
Isla had a great battle on the LW and proved her part to play in the team today with some great footwork and despite being one of the small and youngest on the pitch, battled hard against her opposite number.
Emma & Kat showed positives across the game, and not shying away from challenges & being a key to the defence side of our game.
Kat come away from the game as POTM, this was down to playing in more than one position on the pitch, no complaints and a 100% work rate when on the pitch๐ช๐ฝ๐๐ฝ
Great to see new girls Emmie and Emily starting to showcase their talent but we are still waiting for the click, which after 2 games in the new team, we are sure it will soon come altogether!
Jaz, contributing to the defence and being the rock at the back, we are very proud of how well Jaz has performed in the highfield shirt in these last 3 games and is certainly a versatile player who always gives 100% work rate. A lesson learnt from our 1st friendly, did not have an easy game as Rosegrove had a brilliant striker but Jaz did what she needed to in areas of the game to keep the player quiet. Coming up against good level strikers is only going to progress Jazโ defensive play.
Millie, Emilia & Imogen, took to the field and worked well in parts of the match. Millie got some great opportunities on goal which was great to see the go forward and willingness to attack.
Emilia the missing shin pads, aggressive in defence and continues to play with her head down๐๐
Imogen, a tired version today but our Rottweiler and engine in the middle of the park.
Hollie C carried on with her positive threat in attack, with a strong corner played in which got her first assist of the U12s campaign๐ช๐ฝ๐๐ฝ
Jessica in goals, loud and vocal as what we expect from our captain & a huge personality at the back for us, great vision of the game & retrieving the ball well with good footwork and agility to get out from her line.
We wish Athena the best and hope that her injury is not anything serious!๐๐ฝ

If you have made it this far, today was the last day the girls are playing under the Highfield Grange AFC banner. We would like to say a big thank you to the club for giving the girls a club for playing football in their first full season but we now look forward to our new club at FC Britannia where we will be based down at William Fosters ahead of the Wigan Girls League.
A big thank you to Rembuild Ltd sponsoring the girls this season and we hope to continue working with you in the future!
We take a week off from football as we rest up before the Wigan Cup ๐
Well done today girls and onto the next one!
