WHAT. A. TEAM.
We honestly donโt know where to start after today.
So many brilliant people pulled on their trainers and took on the Wigan 10k for EPiC HOPE UK raising money to help us continue supporting people in crisis and ultimately, save lives from su***de.
And WOW! a number of those running for us were our very own EPiC Runners, and EPiC MEN and seeing people who train together, encourage one another and turn up week after week crossing that finish line with pride was pretty special!
And then there were the monstersโฆ ๐น๐
Our incredible run leader Rob took on the whole 10K dressed as HOPEY, while his 13-year-old daughter, our brilliant Ava was MOPEY for the Family Mile, joined by some of the other children of our EPiC runners.
Mopey and Hopey actually tell quite an important story.
When weโre struggling with our mental health, the thoughts in our heads can become pretty monstrous. Fear, sadness, self-doubt and hopelessness can get louder and louder. When someone is experiencing suicidal thoughts, that darkness can become so overwhelming that it can be difficult to imagine ever feeling differently.
But Mopey doesnโt have to stay Mopey.
With connection, movement, support, kindness and somebody willing to stay beside us, things can begin to change.
Mopey can find Hopey. ๐
And thatโs exactly what EPiC HOPE is all about. Being there when someoneโs hope has become difficult to find and walking, talking, sitting or even running alongside them until they can begin to see it again.
To every person who ran, walked, fundraised, sponsored, cheered, dressed as a monster or brought their children along today, THANK YOU.
And to our brilliant younger EPiC runners who completed the Family Mile, you were incredible! ๐
Every mile today mattered.
Every pound raised matters.
Every conversation about su***de matters.
Because hope saves lives from su***de.
We are ridiculously proud of you all! ๐
A huge thank you too to everyone behind the Wigan 10K for another fantastic event and for helping charities like ours raise vital funds and awareness.
