Busy weekend for the Raiders this one!

Double header: late night Saturday in Bradford vs Bradford Cannibals IHC in another mixed game show down. One of our newbies #43 Jess getting the MVP for her effort throughout the game and earning herself the nickname: "the killer" atta girl πŸ’ͺ

Then onto Sunday when we took on the import team of the who brought their A game which we managed to battle off for 2.5 periods until the gas ran out in the tank πŸ₯΅ but an epic game none the less cheers boys ❀️

Couple more weeks of training now until the big weekender in Hull we cannot wait!

That's right we've been blessed with a flurry of new faces joining the black and purple 😈 A rag tag bunch of eager beavers who have been working hard in our drillz and scrims sessions, honing their skills and progressing well πŸ’ͺ

Last week in the heatwave our poor little ice rink struggled against the temps and resembled that of a paddling pool, that didn't stop the Raiders donning their rollers and skating under the sun for an epic pick up game full of vintage quads and backward caps accompanied by fleetwood mac on the tunes. Something we will be repeating soon again.

Don't worry though the ice has re-frozen and we are back to business tonight at our earlier time of 21.45! Ability based drills to start and then a scrim to finish things off nicely πŸ‘ŒπŸ”₯

Well that was nothing short of exciting for a Tuesday night in Widnes, kicking off game 7 part A of the Raiders & draft series!

πŸ’œπŸ–€πŸ’œ

The teams both looked as close as they've done all series with no team really running away with the game keeping the score close between a goal or 2 with team North on the lead from the start, but the fitness of team South saw them tie it up and take a lead late into the 3rd.

πŸ–€πŸ’œπŸ–€

Game 7 part B currently TBC but team South will be going into it with a 3 goal lead.

Raiders: "Great question! It all comes down to money I'm afraid and ice isn't cheap! We seem to go through this once every few years, we have a super successful season enter a league and win it all then we have players step up to league or in more recent years retire from ice and our weekly numbers dwindle, then we have the annual ice price increase and BAM in a tough spot! However dropping 1 session per month whilst we recruit new players helps us stay afloat."

Random follower: "Ahh I see that's smart, anything I can do to help?"

Raiders: "Come and lace up with us, it's all a numbers game like the game of hockey itself! We have a mixed squad with 3 different levels of players from our beginner guys that are just starting out to our core rec players and to our ex league/junior system players, there's really something for everyone if you enjoy playing hockey, want to improve and have fun in the process"
