Away v Solihull
8-3 Loss

Coaches Comments:

A fantastic start from us gaining an early lead and having a good energy about us. Sadly however Solihull answered back with a gear above us today to take the game in their favour. If we could stay consistent with our first period performance for the entirety of the game then it could have been different however it wasn’t meant to be.

Tiredness with a shorter bench than normal and against a Solihull team who throughout the season have shown they are a relentless team just pushed Widnes to a little too much and they ran away with the game. In the end.

Despite our tiredness the willingness was still on show from the whole team which was positive to see. We held our heads high to make sure we still made our imprint on the game.

U16s
Home v Billingham
3-4 Loss

Coaches Comments:

An unfortunate result for us as we were the better team, created more and looked a lot more dangerous than the opposition. We outshot Billingham but we met a joint strong performance from their netminding duo and they capitalised on some of our mistakes allowing a breakaway for one against and poor positioning for the last goal against which they scored with just 23 seconds left.

We were first to pucks and had a high energy level about us for the majority of the game, seeing us have lots of possession and zone time. We just needed to find a way sometimes to get the puck over line which on this occasion we came up short something we have been very capable of all season.

The team were still happy with the product we put on the ice but sometimes the result and the puck bounces go against the grain of the game. So as always we concentrated on the product and the experience instead of the result so we can get right teaching points out of the game for the players future progression.

Well done team for an exciting end to end game we move onwards and upwards.

Coaches Comments:
We came up against a very strong performance in goal from Sutton, with him putting in an MVP performance. We had a total of 57 shots on goal and only conceding twice is impressive, and credit to him for making the difference on the day.

From our side, it shows that we can really control a game and create a lot of quality chances we just need to work on that conversion rate which will come. This is what junior hockey is about, we are controlling a game creating good chances. The composure will come in from of goal with experience of being in the position to miss in the first place.

Sutton protected the middle of the ice well which made it tough for us to own their house and gain second pucks in front of the net. We saw the most success when we moved the puck with speed and purpose, our conversions came from exactly that, with well-worked plays across the slot finished at the back post. That’s the type of hockey we can produce and is opportunities that will help us capitalise more.
Well done to the team for the efforts. Lets learn on how break down the door and adapt our offence through experiences like this. It’s good to be challenged in this way and we will work on it so the players have the tools to be adaptable to this.

2-3 Loss

Coaches Comments:

A close competitive game of ice hockey as the score line suggests. End to end game requiring focus and attention all the way through the game both in offence and defence.

The visitors opened the scoring but we very quickly answered straight back. Both teams earn’t and created a fair few chances but team defence stood strong.

We dropped off a little bit in the second period and we began to play a bit too individual instead of using the other players around us we became a little blinkered and this caused us to turn over a lot of pucks to the opposition. This meant it became difficult to continue creating good opportunities on the oppositions net without possession of the puck.

We recognised our issues and worked on them which helped us in the 3rd period in a close 1 goal deficit game. We managed to Tie it up not long into the third period however the opposition capitalised on a powerplay goal against us gaining their lead back. We battled hard to try and claw back the goal to tie it back up however we just weren’t able to do this unfortunately.

MVP: Kian - Was good defensively, an active stick and competed to break up plays and win possession of the puck in the D zone for the team.

Hardest Worker: Joseph - Fully focused all game and made some fantastic saves throughout helping the team out when required.

Coaches Comments:
Another fantastic Jamboree from this team, as always lots of fun. Every player put in lots of effort in all 3 games on every shift pushing themselves to make an impact for the team.
Team play was brilliant passing the puck around and moving into space to be an option was great to see something we have been working on in trainings.
Some brilliant plays offensively and as always a solid defence. Its good to see the players willing to play the game on both sides of possession.
All had a big smile on their face the whole time enjoying their time spent with their team mates and friends playing this amazing sport.

19/04/26U12sAway v Whitley4-6 Win
Coaches Comments:
With an early start and a long trip north, the team took a little time to get going and started the game in second gear. Midway through the first period, we found a way through the Whitley Bay defence with a strong drive to the net to open the scoring.
During the period break, we spoke about sticking to our game plan and moving the puck quicker. The players responded brilliantly, we doubled our lead instantly with some excellent puck movement. Whitley pushed back with pressure of their own, but strong defence and some important saves kept us in control. Quick transitions and a determined net drive helped us extend the lead the period ended 3-1.
3rd period, we started fast once again and added two more goals through excellent teamwork and quick puck movement. Credit to Whitley Bay, who never let the scoreline affect them and responded with three quick goals midway through the period. To close the game out an exciting few minutes of end to end hockey with 1 goal in it however good organisation and strong character from us allowed us to get the last goal and finish out the game at 4-6 in our favour.

19/04/26U14s D1Away v Manchester4-3 Loss
Coaches Comments:
A tough result to take for our u14’s D1 team who weren’t able to get the better of Manchester in this game. We were depleted and tired due to various factors which made the fixture an uphill climb for us.
We weren’t able to control the game and the tempo this time out which saw us give up possession and key opportunities in crucial areas.
Nonetheless we still put up a fight and ensured the game was a competitive outing from us. Even though we came out on the losing side this time there was still positives to be proud of, we still created chances, worked as a team and shut down the opposition when we could. Providing an edge of the seat end to the game but due to tired legs we couldn’t quite tie it up.
We take it as an experience, move on and focus on the future so we can continue our progress this season as a team with a positive drive and motivation to develop further.
