The reconfiguration aims to make better, fairer use of the existing toilet space without expanding inside or outside the club.
The current ladies toilets would become an accessible facility, available to wheelchair users, those with restricted mobility, those requiring privacy for medical or sanitary needs and all other female club members. The current gents toilets would become a two cubicle unisex facility, available to all club members. The urinal would be removed.
We expect that many female club members would normally prefer to use the new accessible toilet. At busy times, when female members would currently need to queue for the single toilet, the new unisex facility would provide an alternative for those who chose to use it. Although the gents toilet capacity would be slightly reduced, this would only be an issue at busy times when a fairer balance between the needs of male and female members would result.
