I’m often frustrated when I wake up just before my alarm. It’s not enough time to go back to sleep, but it feels like you’re missing out on those last precious minutes of rest before the morning chaos begins.

But this morning, I woke up with a different mindset…

I heard my hubby heading downstairs for his morning workout and ice bath. He’s incredibly disciplined with his physio exercises at 5:30am every day to help manage his lower back pain before work. I thought, “It’s too warm to lie here anyway,” so I decided to head downstairs too and enjoy my morning cuppa in the garden instead of gulping it down while making packed lunches.

And honestly? It was bliss.

Sitting in the sunshine, feeling the warm morning air, and drinking a cup of tea in peace ☕️ really set me up for the day ahead. As a health coach, I know the benefits of getting morning sunlight and taking a few moments of calm before the chaos starts. But the reality is, I don’t always feel like I have the time or opportunity to do it.

This morning has definitely made me rethink the idea of getting up just a little earlier and making the most of that quiet time, especially while we’re enjoying this lovely warm weather.

Of course, the usual chaos kicked in about 15 minutes later! But I felt calmer, more motivated, and that little bit more prepared for whatever the day had in store.

Maybe there’s something to be said for getting ahead of the day before it gets ahead of you. 🌞

Does anyone else manage to squeeze in a little sunlight and calm before the day gets going? I’d love to know how you make it happen more regularly.

I’m not going to lie, when a good friend asked if I would come and talk about my job at her primary school for Aspirations Week, I was more than a little nervous. But there was no way I was going to turn down the opportunity to talk to young people about health and wellbeing.

The children had visits from an MP, doctors and nurses, a journalist, and many others with high-profile careers, so I felt a little intimidated. However, I soon realised that the message I was sharing was just as important. I wholeheartedly believe in what we do and everything we stand for when it comes to looking after our health and wellbeing.

I couldn’t have been met by a better group of children. They listened attentively, engaged brilliantly with the questions and activities, and had plenty of thoughtful questions and stories of their own.

One story in particular made my day. A boy told me that he had been eating lots of chips and fried foods but had noticed how tired he felt and that he lacked stamina when playing cricket. He decided to make some healthier food choices and is already noticing a huge difference in his energy levels, both on the cricket pitch and in everyday life. Hearing that absolutely made my day.

If my words have helped even one child make one small positive change to their health and feel better because of it, then it was all worth it.

Let’s keep spreading the message that healthy habits start young. The choices we make today can have a lasting impact for years to come. 💪

Thank you for inviting me along today I throughly enjoyed it ❤️

🌱 Let’s talk tofu and tempeh...

A year ago, I hadn’t tried either of them. In fact, I’d never even heard of tempeh! And if I’m being honest, I wasn’t exactly rushing to try it... fermented soya beans? 🤔 It didn’t sound particularly appealing. Then when you take it out of the packet and realise it looks a bit like a brain 🧠😬... well, that didn’t help either!

But as I’ve delved deeper into my nutrition studies and learned more about the benefits of plant-based proteins and dietary variety, I decided it was time to give it a go.

I won’t lie, it took some trial and error. Some experiments were a firm “no thanks,” others were just a bit meh. But eventually, I found a way of preparing it that we genuinely enjoy. (Well... almost all of us. My youngest is still a work in progress! 😂)

So here’s a quick snippet showing how I prep tempeh in a simple, fuss-free way to sprinkle over a basic veggie pasta bake.

P.S. We’re still very much meat eaters, but we now make a conscious effort to include more plant-based proteins in our meals too.

Have you tried tofu or tempeh? I’d love to hear your favourite ways to use them—share your inspiration below 👇

Back from a lovely holiday in Cyprus but as an allergy family it brings challenges that many never see.

What has made the biggest difference for me isn’t finding a way to remove the challenges but building the strength and resilience to handle them.

Exercise, nutrition, mindfulness, breathing techniques and gratitude have helped me approach stressful situations with a calmer mindset and enjoy what we ‘can’ do as a family.

What lifestyle tools would you like to add to your toolkit to help you navigate stressful situations?

Another block of Strength & Stillness completed today 💪 and it’s been so lovely moving with everyone.

I created this class because life can feel busy, stressful and chaotic at the best of times, and we all know that making time for our health now, and for the long term, is key 🔑

This quick and convenient online class (with 7 day access recording) combines both strength and stillness because, let’s be real, we need both to move through our busy days with more energy, clarity and resilience.

Each session includes 25 minutes of strength-based Pilates. I mix it up every week…sometimes with a more classical flow, other times using circuits and building on a few foundational exercises. We use small weights and bodyweight resistance to help find those deep muscle connections.

We then finish with 5 minutes of breathwork. This isn’t just time to switch off and calm the nervous system — I also teach techniques you can take into everyday life for even more benefits.

My next 6-week block starts after the UK half term:📅 3rd June – 8th July

Details are in my bio, or comment with a 💪 and I’ll send you the sign-up link!

If you’ve been following my page for a long time, you may remember that early last year I launched an online resource called Calm Through the Chaos…created to support mums (particularly those with anxious teens) by helping them build a toolkit to navigate and manage anxiety through movement, breathing and mindfulness.

I put my heart and soul into that project because I genuinely wanted to help others. We were living through the exact same experience as a family, and over the years we’d found so many helpful ways to manage anxiety together.

But the truth is, posting regular content about anxiety actually started to create more anxiety for me. When you’re already living with the effects of it, and supporting your children through it too — having it become part of your work can feel all-consuming. So I decided to keep the resource online, but step back from regularly posting about it for my own sanity.

This week, my eldest son sat his first GCSE paper (he’s taking English Lit a year early, so not the full shebang just yet!). Watching him ride the rollercoaster of emotions and pressure, while also seeing him use the tools we’ve built over the years to manage it, made me incredibly proud of him. It also reminded me just how valuable these tools can be.

So while I don’t talk about it much on here, I know many of you currently have teens navigating exams too, and you may both benefit from having some anxiety tools to draw on.

A day of teaching and I can’t help but smile 😊 Not only do I get to interact with each of my clients on a 1:1 level, we chat, we laugh and we come out of our comfort zones together each and every session, learning from each other along the way….but when my teaching day ends I’m greeted with text messages like…

“I really enjoyed today’s session thank you Vicky” and

“I felt so much better after our session I was able to do an hours dog walk after” (having come in with a knee flare up)

Definitely having an appreciation moment right now ❤️😊

As a busy mum, I know that cooking and eating healthy doesn’t start and end with just making nutritious meals. It’s the planning around work and hobbies, the shopping list that matches your meals, and the time you carve out to actually cook, before you even step into the kitchen 🤪

I’ve tried, tested, ditched, and kept a variety of approaches to stay on top of it all and this is one that’s really working for us right now, so I’m sharing in case it helps someone else too.
✨ One dish, 4 ways on the same night each week. Boom!

Choice becomes easy because you remove the overwhelm, planning gets simpler, and you still keep variety on your plate 🙌

Does anyone else do this?

In my Nutrition Essentials Toolkit, you’ll find guidance, resources, inspiration, and recipes to help you stay on top of healthy eating, no matter how busy life gets. It’s a one-off investment with lifetime updates.
