- FOR ANY PLAYERS LOOKING FOR A TEAM/CAPTAINS LOOKING FOR PLAYERS

We’ve had a lot of players looking for teams enquire about how to go about joining our league, so here’s a quick post to help clarify things.

To join a team, you must be picked by an existing team captain. However, keep an eye on the page, as some additional team slots may become available. A venue in Wick is looking at getting more tables, which could potentially create space for another 2–4 teams.

For the time being, if you’re a player looking for a team, please comment below and we’ll add you to our list of players looking for a team. This will allow any captains who are looking for players to view the list and get in touch.

Please note that being added to the list does not guarantee that you will be selected for a team. This is simply our way of connecting players who are looking for teams with captains who may be looking for players.

Cheers

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We have just held our AGM, and the following information is important for all our players.

- LEAGUE STARTING DATE

The league’s first matches will kick off on Monday, 12th October.

- PLAYER TRANSFER WINDOW

We will be introducing a transfer window in January, meaning that any players who wish to transfer from one team to another may do so during the allotted transfer window.

Players will still be allowed to move teams outside of the transfer window. However, once a player has played two or more matches for their team, they will be locked into that team until the transfer window.

This is intended to ensure that players who have only subbed in for two matches, or who feel they are not getting as much match time as they would like, are not locked into one team. It is not intended to allow free movement between teams; therefore, each player will be limited to playing for a maximum of two teams per season.

All transfer requests must be submitted to and approved by the League Committee to ensure that each transfer meets the required criteria.

- MATCH START TIMES

All matches between teams from within the town will start at 7:30 pm, while all matches involving a team from outwith the town will start at 8:00 pm.

If any members of the away team wish to have any practice time on the home team’s table, please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled match start time. If not this practice time will be lost to ensure all matches start as scheduled.

- FOUL CHECKS

If you suspect that you or the opposing player is about to play a foul shot (e.g. a push shot), you can call over both team captains to observe the shot and ensure that no foul is committed. If a captain is playing in the match, they can instead call over their vice-captain.

- COMMITTEE CHECKS

Three new members have joined our committee: John Morris Malcom, Greg Simpson and Alan Plowman.

Our Secretary has taken a step back, meaning that the role will now be shared among the existing committee members for the time being.

Our new committee is as follows:

Shane Honeymoon – Chairman

Jim Bain – Treasurer

Alan Plowman – Social Media Officer

John Morris Malcom – Committee Member

Greg Simpson – Committee Member
