Bloodwork, peptides, metabolic health & the future of wellness 🩸

A few thoughts from the wellness panel with Valeo Health in Dubai.

The biggest thing that kept coming up was this:

Most people are waiting until something is “wrong” before they start paying attention to their health.

But if you actually want to optimise health, performance and longevity, you need to look upstream.

That starts with understanding your bloodwork properly.

Not just getting a basic blood test and seeing if anything is flagged red.

Actually knowing what the markers mean.

The Biggest areas to look at are:
(with a qualified professional)

Metabolic health

How well your body handles energy, blood sugar and insulin.
This means looking at markers like fasting glucose, HbA1c, fasting insulin, triglycerides, HDL, waist circumference and liver enzymes.
The big one that often gets missed is insulin.

Your glucose can look “normal”, but if insulin is high, your body is already working harder than it should.

Heart health

This is where people need to stop just looking at “good” and “bad” cholesterol.

You want to understand LDL, HDL, triglycerides, non-HDL, ApoB, Lp(a), blood pressure and importantly, how to read the ratios.
Because the relationship between these markers often tells you more than one number on its own.
Inflammation

Markers like hs-CRP, ferritin and white blood cell count can give useful insight into stress, recovery, immune load and general health.

Hormones

This is especially important for men over 35, women in perimenopause or menopause, and anyone struggling with energy, recovery, mood, libido or body composition.

Deficiencies

This is where supplements should start.
Not with:
“What’s the best supplement?”

But:
“What am I actually missing?”

Vitamin D, B12, folate, iron/ferritin, magnesium, omega-3, zinc and copper can all be useful to check depending on the person - Not everyone needs every supplement.

And that was the overarching point of the day

Bloodwork helps you understand what needs attention.

Thanks to for making such incredible and impactful things like this happen 🤝

My Why

It’s been a journey…

From helping me recover and getting my purpose back to where I am now, extremely healthy, Very fit And in the shape of my life.
And Completely immersed in learning all I can about the subject.

I went to a very interesting Panel talk on the weekend hosted by a top wellness clinic.

The head doctor said

Traditional / Conventional medicine is very good at treating disease.

For example institutions like the NHS are extremely good at saving lives and helping sick and injured people

But what they are interested in is preventing the need to be saved

Ok Bpc-157 won’t stop me from crashing / make me less s**t at motocross but the NHS wanted to operate on me…

What I said instead prevented that.

And there are so many examples which are health based not injury.

Metabolic. Heart health. Hormonal. Lipids. The list goes on and on.

That’s what fascinates me. And that what I’ll following and working on.

I used to think fully grown men wearing football shirts was a bit sad, I remember my mum cringing at them 🫠

Now I’m arguably an over grown man and I wear this one proudly

And football hasn’t ever been in my top 5 sports, probably a combination of me not being very good at it, how easily most of them go down and then roll around crying. And how muggy the fans are to opposing fans

For example a lad just said to me in the gym ‘unlucky on the weekend mate’ with a massive smirk on his face

I said what, winning the hardest Football League in the world and losing on penalties in the Champions League Final…

He looked at me blankly…

I said it’s not unlucky anyway, it’s unfortunate.

Who do you support anyway?

‘Chelsea’ he said.

Shock. A fellow London team fan more buzzing about Arsenal losing the final than he is gutted about his team coming mid table and not even playing in Europe next year.

And the opposite of this is why I fell back in love with Arsenal since Mikel Arteta took over and watching the All or Nothing documentary 4 or 5 years ago.

Because just like all champions, they don’t care about anyone else. There’s no excuses when they lose, just a necessity to improve:

They built a foundation, forged in habits.

They are obsessed with being better than yesterday, and than last week, and last season / year.

They have a plan, a programme, accountability, work ethic and they stick to it.

They know stuff will go wrong, they adapt and focus on what they can control and don’t worry about what they can’t…

There are so many parallels to the mindset of mastering your health and fitness

A team could buy a hot new player - just like most people can buy the most recently trending peptide / protocol / supplement

But you cannot replace or replicate the foundations. So if you want true results, don’t try

Slowing down, to be able to keep pushing….was the plan.

The outcome…the most productive week of my life.

Focus is the main goal right now. And this week (following the retreat last weekend) has been as close to flow state I’ve ever personally experienced.

Purpose. Clarity. Impact. Growth. Connection. Gratitude.

We hiked, iced, moved mindfully, shared energy and gratitude, breathed, meditated, power yoga’d, explored and connected.

All led by the fantastic and - at the beautiful

I’m Very blessed to have done it here with these special people.

But if anyone reading this is really pushing for something at the moment I highly recommend taking a couple of days to slow down ❤️ Nature. Breathe. Dont train. Connect. Don’t look at WhatsApp or your emails for 24-48 hours.

It does wonders for the mind.
