Bloodwork, peptides, metabolic health & the future of wellness 🩸
A few thoughts from the wellness panel with Valeo Health in Dubai.
The biggest thing that kept coming up was this:
Most people are waiting until something is “wrong” before they start paying attention to their health.
But if you actually want to optimise health, performance and longevity, you need to look upstream.
That starts with understanding your bloodwork properly.
Not just getting a basic blood test and seeing if anything is flagged red.
Actually knowing what the markers mean.
The Biggest areas to look at are:
(with a qualified professional)
Metabolic health
How well your body handles energy, blood sugar and insulin.
This means looking at markers like fasting glucose, HbA1c, fasting insulin, triglycerides, HDL, waist circumference and liver enzymes.
The big one that often gets missed is insulin.
Your glucose can look “normal”, but if insulin is high, your body is already working harder than it should.
Heart health
This is where people need to stop just looking at “good” and “bad” cholesterol.
You want to understand LDL, HDL, triglycerides, non-HDL, ApoB, Lp(a), blood pressure and importantly, how to read the ratios.
Because the relationship between these markers often tells you more than one number on its own.
Inflammation
Markers like hs-CRP, ferritin and white blood cell count can give useful insight into stress, recovery, immune load and general health.
Hormones
This is especially important for men over 35, women in perimenopause or menopause, and anyone struggling with energy, recovery, mood, libido or body composition.
Deficiencies
This is where supplements should start.
Not with:
“What’s the best supplement?”
But:
“What am I actually missing?”
Vitamin D, B12, folate, iron/ferritin, magnesium, omega-3, zinc and copper can all be useful to check depending on the person - Not everyone needs every supplement.
And that was the overarching point of the day
Bloodwork helps you understand what needs attention.
Thanks to for making such incredible and impactful things like this happen 🤝
