The season finally starts! +3

After two tough results to swallow, the season finally kicks into gear as we record a convincing 3-1 victory over a decent opponent. The team played with a great deal more cohesion and the creative spark was back in the team, along with a steely grit displayed from the back line. 3 brilliantly constructed goals, coming from captain Joe Hutchinson, prolific poacher Jay Jordan and capped off by the flamboyant Josh Linsley. Excellent performance from all and great determination showed by the boys!

Man of the match:
Chris Hurworth- a rock solid performance from the CB, who we had missed for the last few weeks and he slotted back in like he had never been away. Just shaded man of the match but that’s only because the standard behind him was that high.

Another disappointing result and less positives to pick out of this one. The team really weren’t at the races and know that they’re going to have to improve in the coming weeks to get ourselves back on track. Credit to grangetown, they made it difficult for us and didn’t give us a moments peace and we couldn’t match the tempo. Big bounce back required next week 💙

Man of the match: Paul Cull- Some top saves at very important moments, that kept us in the game and gave us a chance to try and claw our way back into the game, but ultimately we fell short at the top end of the pitch.

Matchday 2 🔵⚽️

Back on home soil for the first time this season. We welcome Grangetown reserves, who will no doubt provide us a very stern test. The boys are looking to get back to winning ways after a narrow defeat last time out. Get yourselves along to support the boys and hopefully see us collect our first 3 points of the season. Win as a team, lose as a team💙

Doesn’t come much more heartbreaking than losing like that. Racing into a 3-0 lead, pegged back to 3-3, 4-3 up, then to go onto lose in the last minute. We were behind for one minute of the match but we come away with 0 points from Matchday 1. Credit to Whinney banks who came back strong in the 2nd half and struck when it mattered. A few key players missing that could potentially have got us over the line, but we aren’t going to make excuses and sit here licking our wounds. We go again next week, still plenty of positives to take out of the first half performance especially. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Man of the match: Jay Jordan- excellent link up play, worked his socks off in multiple positions and not a single complaint about it. Managed to bag himself a brace, the 2nd of which was a beauty of a finish. Top performance badge ⭐

Having risen through the ranks at the club, Ewan has now got two seasons experience of men’s football under his belt with the academy, and has now deservedly had the call up to the first team after a great season last term that brought a load of goals and a vast improvement in his overall game.
