Well we've not really managed to get out very much at all this last week or more, we went for it last Sunday but the wind did cause us some issues.

Westerly is the best direction of wind for us yes but any direction getting up there into the teens can be horrendous once you push out to sea more than a mile! And at the moment to find fish we need to be going out there looking for clearer waterers where possible to find some.

In winter we can manage with some pretty strong winds in the right direction because we can be sneaky and get tucked in behind cliffs and around corners for shelter.

Summer drifting wanting to be out at least 3,5,7 or more miles there's nothing to hide behind so even when the shore line is beautiful and the harbour is glorious it's a completely different story once out on the water. Sometimes even I get fooled on a morning beach walk into thinking I've done the wrong thing cancelling a trip.

It goes without saying that I will try when I think there's possibly a way to sneak in a trip and at times it's been a raging success and there are times I wished I had used my head and stayed home!

At the moment our issues are once again the wind!

I missed a small window yesterday to try again because I was at work, every Monday I have a day at work, sadly the boat is far too inconsistent of a wage to rely on it to pay my bills so a Mondays day at work isn't a huge amount but is a life saver to keep my head above water.

Tomorrow,
we are going to give it ago! Now I do expect that wind to be an issue again but myself and the few lads booked on are wanting to give it a go, Sunday we got the full day in and we caught a few fish we just couldn't get out to where I wanted to be to fish so struggled on in the green water closer to shore.

I do have some spaces available if you would like to come and give it a go?
Hopefully we will get a few fish 🐟🐟🐟🎣🎣🎣🎣

I've not taken many pictures and I do my best not to repost pictures over and over again so there's only a couple worth posting, I had some nice ling on Sunday but my ugly mug gets seen more then enough so no pictures we taken πŸ˜‚

Later start tomorrow 8am if you fancy it!

Well I thought I had best get my butt in gear and sort a post out for the past bank holiday weekend!

Obviously we had Fantastic weather! And boy do I miss it right now.

Conditions were as good as we could hope for this time of year and the fishing was surprisingly good for the most part!
Saturday, Sunday and Monday all went well, plenty of coddling around on the ground to keep the rods busy and over the few days the wrecks threw out some nice fish.

Sadly my planned fun trip on Tuesday did not go to plan and I had my first issue with the boat. Sadly we lost the reverse in the gearbox and had to have a steady early return to the harbour.

Big thanks to a fellow boat TROT ON for their help and allowing me to tow them up the harbour and use them like a break for a safe return to the pontoon. Everything went like clockwork and we got back safe and sound and the gearbox has now been changed and I'm back up and running.

Apologies to the guys waiting to see there pictures that I managed to snap, I've been flat out getting seaspray all sorted and back up and running.

We sadly missed Wednesday's fishing as I was man handling a gearbox out and then back into the boat ready for today's trip.

Sadly conditions were not the best today, the guys persisted on and managed a few nice cod and a couple of ling for the table but it was hard work.

Anyway enough babbling here are the pictures I managed to get over the couple of days we had at sea 😁

Well guys and girls just a little update, since this weeks weather has been a disaster and then by next week we are back in to big tides 😑

As most of you will know sadly I've had to increase my prices I'm afraid.

All trips have now gone up in price by Β£5pp sure to fuel price rises, I did try and keep the same prices again I've had for the last 2 years.

Price list is as follows

4hr trips are Β£40pp with rods and tackle included for the trip

6hr trips are Β£50pp with rods included set up ready to go (if needed) then replacement tackle is to be purchased.

8hr trips are Β£60pp with all your own gear.

Hire rods are still available for Β£5
Rigs are now Β£2 each
12oz weights are Β£1.50

All trips require a deposit to book and no trips are booked (or pencilled in) until deposit is received. Sadly it gets too messy and too complicated otherwise.

Oh yer and one final announcement!

This year seaspray has joined in with the summer competition 😁 so anyone booking up in the month of July will have the opportunity to be included at the cost of £5 (this will go to the prize fund) for the chance to get that top prize of £1000!!!

This is a first for me and I still have to finalise some details but at the moment it looks like for the month of JULY if you wish to be included on a trip entering the competition duration with be 10hrs

Competition rules are 7am till 5pm

So I will be running these trips at Β£65 for 10hrs (plus the Β£5 entry fee on top making it Β£70 for the day).

You can still join us on these trips and opt out of being in the competition if you don't want to pay the extra Β£5 entrance fee.

Good tides are being booked up quickly for July already so I wouldn't hang around if you fancy a blast for one of the prizes

Tight lines everyone!

Well the bank holiday came and went and we managed a couple of days at sea.

The tides have been a little on the larger side over the weekend not huge but big enough to spoil a full day wrecking as the drift just gets a bit quick, then if you get a little breeze behind it your up to 2 knots and flying along so we ventured out on both days (Saturday and Monday) with the idea of playing it by ear!

Working around slack water and then being on the wrecks until the drift was unmanageable for everyone, then hitting the ground and trying different areas trying to find a few and seeing where is fishing and where isn't at the moment.

Having anglers book on your never quite sure of their experience ect, so if I have a few book up and need hire gear I'm pretty sure I've got to start off the day steady and not just throw them into massive lumps of steel and say "get on with it".

Now, I get plenty of "feedback" we will call it on my video posts. I must say that these are light hearted banter and the "please do not swear" is literally because every time someone collars me walking around the town or messages it's the first thing they say as they laugh, just remember people it's all in jest and just some fun.

And no I'm not like that for the entire trip, yes I get excited and childish when there's a few fish coming over the rails but I'm afraid that's just me and I love it haha

There will always be haters of anyone who's having fun when they're not, they just can't keep it to themselves and move on with their own lives.

Anyway the fishing!,

Well it hasn't been absolutely amazing but it's been at times rather good fun, it's great when multiple rods bend over at the same time, means you have found a few. We've managed to drop on the odd wreck and area of ground that's held some nice codling and the odd better ling and it's really surprised me as we are very very early in the season! Hopefully it's the sign of a great season ahead 😁

The wind has started to whip up for the rest of this week and is going to spoil our fun I think so we will just have to wait and see what happens.

Bookings are available but weekends are manic, everyone wants weekends and you need to book them well in advance for our longer full day trips, weekdays are much quieter. The larger tides we still run our half day trips and try and time them around the tides to help, there still dates available for these on up coming weekends, I don't book full days on big tides.

I am also planning to run trips targeting Tope this year. More towards the back end of the summer season, after last year's chaos and the arrival of more that usual tope (normally it's the odd one picked up). Last year sore multiple catches around our shore line. These trips will be for a max of 4 people and I'll have decent quality gear available for hire on these trips.

I managed to snap a few pics from the last couple of days, not many as the majority of fish seem to have all been around the same size.

Well what a glorious day this has turned out to be! Beautiful β˜€οΈ β˜€οΈ β˜€οΈ
