This morning we were lucky enough to get to play on the pitch at Whitby Town FC. Normanby kindly made the trip over to play us in a friendly. It was a challenge for us playing 11v11, using the full pitch and big goals, but the kids on both teams adapted fantastically and all enjoyed the experience.

It was a competitive and close end to end game with the final result being Sleights 4-5 Normanby.

A fantastic morning (despite the weather!) and a brilliant way to end our season ⚽️. Thanks to Tommy's parents Jenny Moth and Craig for organising.

Last league game of the season for us today against Normanby. Always a tough game against a very good side. The scoreline didn't go our way - but a good end to the season nevertheless.

Zak was MOM today, for some great work in midfield and getting back to help defend, particularly in the first half.

Shoutout also today to Tommy who had a fantastic game in goal, also to Logan and Alfie F for putting in solid performances whilst playing out of position. 👏

After no league game for 3 weeks we travelled the long trek to Newton Aycliffe this morning.

We started quite well and grew into the match as the first half went on. It was only once that the opposition get in behind, but Alfie (who didn’t put a foot wrong all game) got back to put off their number 11 enough to force him to shoot wide of the post.

Freddie then picked up the ball and carried it nearly the full length of the pitch before being clipped in the area. The ref pointed to the spot and Freddie gave the ball to Logan to take the spot kick. Logan coolly stroked the ball into the bottom right corner to go 1-0 up.

We played some lovely football in the second half, the players linking up really well with some nice passing moves. Our wingers were getting in behind, creating some good opportunities to get a second goal, which would’ve killed the match, but we just couldn’t force anything home.

Tommy did really well all match reading the game and sweeping up a lot of balls in behind. It was unfortunate that the ball fell to Newton Aycliffe’s number 3 on the left edge of the box who tucked it away in the bottom corner.

Neither side could break the deadlock in the last few minutes and it finished 1-1.

Can’t fault any of the lads today; each and every one of them played well, individually and as a team. The opposition manager singled out Logan for his praise but we chose Samuel as our MoM for his composure on the ball and starting lots of flowing movements down the left hand side.

We go again next weekend for the final game of the season. UTS! 🖤🤍🖤🤍
