Before I left the house at 5:30 I checked the train and it was on as normal. Arrive at Birmingham New Street and see on the board the only train cancelled was my one.

The train is every 2 hours so today’s ride is postponed.

Frustrating but one of the benefits of getting the train to the start is I was 6 miles from home compared to last month when I was 150 miles away from home at Aberystwyth when I did the Devil’s Staircase and had train problems. No complications getting home.

Weather looks sensational next week so I’ll look at an epic for next week.

One of the toughest climbs in The UK, Bwlch Y Gores is on the menu tomorrow.

Another big ride planned tomorrow, 132 miles from Machynlleth back home to Birmingham.

Bwlch Y Groes is arguably the hardest climb on the list. Hardest I've done so far of the 65 I've done from the original list, including Hardknott Pass in that.

Also back to the lovely Hirnant Pass to.
Really enjoyed that one last September.

Just before crossing the Boarder I'll be trying to finish unfinished business on Long Mountain, just outside of Welshpool. Tried it last year and cramped horrifically twice at the end of a long ride taking that on. So tomorrow get up that on in 1 go.

Cross the boarder and into Shropshire and I've added on a recommended climb in Ironbridge of Lincoln Hill. Not on any lists but I've been told it is the steepest climb in that historic valley, hitting 30%.

Then its the final push home via my local climbs in the Clent Hills of St Kenelm Pass and Winwood Heath Rd.

Looking forward to this. Should be a good day for £13 on the train.

Update: train cancelled when I arrived at new street. 😢

166 miles riding the Coast to Coast, including Hardknott Pass.

What a day on the bike. My longest ever ride. cycling from Seascale in the Lake District, through the Yorkshire Dales and out to Whitby in the North York Moors.

The best climb in Mid Wales, the Devils Staircase is a must ride climb.

Incredible scenery and brutally steep slopes to challenge any cyclist.

First time out on the bike since the C2C last Saturday. Much needed rest doing nothing physical at all.

Felt refreshed and ready for the next adventure. Maybe Tuesday?
