Since the whole industry is pretty much a pendulum, let’s hope the back-fire against ‘training optimal’ isn’t so ridiculously hard that we become careless in our exercise/ method selection; after all, sport science and S&C wouldn’t exist if ‘all roads lead to Rome’. There’s a healthy middle ground. Most opposing concepts in fitness don’t exist as ‘separate entities’ but rather on a spectrum. The same spectrum.

I like to rationalise the Optimal vs Sub-Optimal movement debate as a horseshoe. Key Lessons Here:
1) There’s a healthy middle zone
2) Go too far on either side you get dogs***
3) It really doesn’t matter where on the spectrum you train, at all… provided you stay far away from no-man’s-land
