Just four weeks to go until I attempt to complete my first ultramarathon!

Scared? Yep! Nervous? Absolutely! Excited? You betcha!

For those of you who have been cheering me on along the way, thank you!

It’s been a long 19 weeks of focussed training for me and four more to go before I take on the victory lap that is High Peak 40 Mile Challenge , 40.5 miles of the High Peak hills and dales!

To mark the occasion, I am giving you all the chance to win a free PT session with me… just not the week following the run, give my body time to recover 🤣

Wanna know how to enter?

Simply comment below with what time you think I will complete the distance in!

I’ve been uploading my training runs to my stories and saving them to the archive so you can see how training has been going and what my pace has been like.

Be as precise with the timings as you like! Closest time wins and remember DNS and DNF are also possible 🤣😱

The official race time will be what this is based on, NOT Strava time which auto pauses whenever I have a rest!

I’ll announce the winner on Monday 21st September.

Race distance is 40.5 miles
Start time is 8am (Saturday 19th September)
I have a MAXIMUM of 14 hours to complete the distance.
Hint: I’m a back of the pack runner, as fiercely determined as I am, I am not speedy, just steady and chatty and snacky 🤣🤣

Here’s the route if you want a nosey: https://explore.osmaps.com/route/23444307/high-peak-40-2025

As ever this giveaway is in no way affiliated with FB/Insta/Meta.
Just me adding a little joy and whimsy, there might even be a dot you can watch on the day… I know how to excite you all, don’t I?

Sunday evening adventures, three hours on the running plan. Windgather Rocks and Pym Chair car park.

One of those make it up as you go and hope it meets the time limit, in the end I didn’t have to worry as it only took me 2hrs 20 mins so if I do it again I know I can head along the ridge to Shining Tor and head down to Errwood Reservoir from there.

10 miles and 1308 ft elevation to round off week 17 of Ultramarathon training 💪🏻

Yesterday’s long run adventure… 🏃‍♀️⛰️

5 hours on the plan meant I had the bright idea of seeing how far along the High Peak 40 Mile Challenge route I could get.

Sounds sensible enough… except I’d been feeling rough for a couple of days and was hoping I’d magically feel less exhausted by the time I started running. (Spoiler alert: I didn’t. 🤦‍♀️)

The day didn’t get off to the best start either. I missed my first train to Buxton, then the second one was cancelled. Not to be defeated by a couple of trains, I drove to Buxton instead and got started from there knowing i could catch the bus back to Buxton from Casteton.

The first two miles were, by far, the hardest. My goal of reaching the Castleton checkpoint (20 miles) in 5 hours suddenly felt completely unrealistic. After the climb up to Burbage Edge, I decided I’d run back at Whaley Bridge and call it a day.

Then I reached the Taxal Lay-by checkpoint and thought, “Actually… I’m not feeling that awful. Maybe I’ll just push on to Eccles Pike.”

That climb took longer than expected, but I got there. Still feeling rough, but not completely wiped out, I decided I’d keep heading towards Chinley and work out an escape route if I needed one.

As you can probably tell… this became the theme of the entire run! 😂

I actually thought I was managing things pretty well… until I ran out of water at mile 17. 🥵

I’d packed 3 litres total (1 litre of water and 2 litres of Tailwind), but it wasn’t enough. I pushed on over Rushup Edge to Mam Tor, hoping the coffee van in the car park would be there so I could refill my bottles.

No such luck.

At that point, I couldn’t face the final big climb and the last couple of miles without water, so I called it there.

I then discovered I’d missed the last bus to Buxton and the service wouldn’t resume again until 5pm 🚌

Not every training run goes to plan, but there’s plenty to take away from my adventure and sometimes the biggest win is listening to your body, adapting the plan, and still getting the hours in.

I did hit my planned 5 hours, I wasn’t too far away from my goal distance and if that had been race day with checkpoints and water, I’d have made it 💪🏻🏃‍♀️

Some days remind you just how powerful a community can be.

Yesterday I had the joy of joining the wonderful team at for their first social bimble, and what a brilliant adventure it was.

There was laughter, conversation, Peak District, beautiful surroundings and that magical feeling that happens when people come together with kindness and without judgement.

Some walked, some ran ahead and looped back, some bimble at a chatty pace. At no point was it about pace or competitive spirit, just hearty conversations about running adventures, securing new running friendships and all the snacks 🫶🏻

Into Ultra is a UK based charity dedicated to making ultra-running more accessible and inclusive for everyone. Because the sport can be expensive and intimidating, they help under-represented individuals reach the start line by covering costs such as race entries, coaching and mandatory running gear.

They are doing something really special by creating opportunities for people to build the confidence to explore the outdoor song-distance and helping them to realise that adventure belongs to everyone 🥰

Thank you to everyone who made today so memorable.
Your warmth, enthusiasm and generosity made it a day to look back on with a huge smile!
