It is just over a month until the Waltz. This year the Carnival celebrates its 50th anniversary and it promises to be a brilliant day. 🚨 DEFIB.RUN | SUNDAY 19 JULY 🚨

Our member Kieran is organising DEFIB.RUN to help raise money for the community defibrillators around Chinley ❤️

The event starts any time between 11am and 12pm and challenges runners and walkers to navigate to all six phone-box defibrillators around the village and surrounding area using a route of their own choice 🏃‍♂️🗺️

It’s a fun mix of trail running, navigation, and community fundraising, with all proceeds helping maintain and support local lifesaving equipment 🚑

🏃‍♂️ The Buxton Half Marathon is back on Sunday 24th May 2026 🏃‍♀️

Starting at Buxton Opera House and finishing in the beautiful Pavilion Gardens, this challenging single-lap route takes runners through some of the finest Peak District scenery 🌄

Expect climbs along Axe Edge, stunning views of Chrome Hill, Dowel Dale and Park House Hill, plus around 460m of ascent across one of the UK’s most scenic half marathons ⛰️

Not running this year? Why not join the fabulous team of marshals and help make the event safe and successful for everyone 👏

🎄 Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Goyt Valley Striders 🎉

Thank you to everyone who has run with us, supported one another and made 2025 a great year on the trails and roads 🌟

We meet every Tuesday at 7pm from the Canal Wharf Car Park (Tom Brad’s Croft, Whaley Bridge). Our main club run welcomes all abilities in Groups 1 to 5, with runs typically 60–90 minutes and a post-run drink at the Goyt or the Nook 🍻

On Saturday mornings at 8am we hold a more relaxed Group 2 social run, followed by coffee or breakfast at a local café ☕️

We also have Thursday training sessions at 7pm, including hill and speed work suitable for all abilities, plus occasional Thursday away runs and social events throughout the season

In 2026 we’re running club championships, social meets, training sessions and taking part in all kinds of events across road, trail and fell 🎽

If you’re new to running or looking for a friendly club to run with, come along in 2026 and say hello 👋
