Castle Cove Sailing Club

Castle Cove Sailing Club Castle Cove Sailing Club is a thriving, long established, family club, based in Portland Harbour, UK

Castle Cove Sailing Club is an active and friendly, family club located on the north shore of Portland Harbour. From small beginnings in a cliff-top chalet in 1923, we have grown steadily and in September 2002 we moved to our present site at the end of Old Castle Road, Weymouth. During 2023 we will be marking our 100th year of encouraging the sport of sailing in Weymouth. During the lead up to the

Olympics in 2012 we welcomed sailors from over 20 countries to join us and train at the club. We have a strong self-help ethos and run an extensive programme of racing for both dinghies and keelboats. In conjunction with our busy sailing calendar we have a full social diary taking pride in being a very friendly club, run by members for members.

Congratulations to Graham and William Cook from Lyme Regis Sailing Club for taking first place in their Fireball!

After days of forecast stress, organisers and helpers at Castle Cove were relieved but still slightly weather nervous as arriving visitors were greeted with gusts in the 20's for the first Sailing South West event at this club.

Congratulations to all of those who collected awards at the final prize giving event of the Sonata Nationals 2025 held at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy this afternoon presented by Richard Bowers our Commodore.
1st Duette - Joe Cross and crew
2nd Eric - Chris Robinson and crew
3rd Frankie the Rhino - Anthony Robinson

A big thank you to all of the CCSC volunteers on and off of the water who have worked very hard this week to run the event.

We are very proud of all our members who took part including our Cadet Team, who under the supervision of Alistair Clarke, sailed some great races together.

It was a very windy end to a great event and we know many of them will be very weary, so we wish all our visitors a safe trip home.
