So we’ve got into the mid sixties regarding the number of entrants and it looks like a similar number as last year. Some new faces and sadly one or two have left for various reasons but still looking forward to a good summer of competition. Some new prizes have been devised for the enthusiastic competitors!

The Jurassic Tennis Ladder will start in April.

Has anyone got any ideas about new rules, new incentives or publicising the competition?

Also let me know if there are tennis players out there who might like to play in such a competition but are not aware of the event.

August 1952 at the tournament court, Radipole Park Drive, (where the basketball is now played). Imagine Andy Murray, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafa Nadal putting on an exhibition of tennis today in Weymouth? That’s how the professionals made their money- touring the country and the world- no more Wimbledon- that was only for amateurs.

Jurassic Tennis Ladder Final 14 September 3pm at DTSC .

After 5 months, nearly 400 matches, and over 70 players taking part, the 2025 Jurassic Tennis Singles Ladder is now nearing its conclusion.

The quarter finals are about to commence and the players competing are a blend of youth and experience which should create some exciting bouts.

The line up for the last eight is -

Will Stein v Bruno Kenway

Kaiese Brown v Daniel Scotchmer

Clif Moreton v Matthew Brook

Steve White v Ryan Blair

The ladder final will be held at the Dorchester Tennis and Squash Club, Sawmills Site (behind Tescos) at 3pm on Sunday 14 September by kind permission of the club’s members and committee.

Clive Stow, local LTA tennis coach and organiser of the competition, said the ladder is now in its eighth year and participation has gone from strength to strength, with more matches played and higher competitor numbers than ever before. I strongly believe that the only way to improve your tennis game is by competing and playing matches and the ladder is the perfect vehicle to do this.

Hopefully, there will be a great match to entertain spectators on the day of the final which will showcase two of the South Dorset’s finest players.

There will be complimentary refreshments and a free raffle for all who attend the final, with great prizes up for grabs

Hi everyone,

The Jurassic Singles Tennis Ladder is doing really well again this year. The weather has been an enormous help in getting matches played but also it seems that the new rules have helped to bring people together. April was a record month with 86 matches played and the number of people involved is close to 70. I wouldn’t be surpised if we see a few new faces once the exams and the university’s have finished. Anyway get challenging and good luck!🙏😀🎾♥️🪜
