✨ 1 week to go ✨

With just one week to go until this years Swimathon, we are able to share a few more details on what will happen on the day!

Swimmers of all ages will face the challenge of swimming as many lengths as they possibly can in one hour to help raise money to find much needed new equipment for the club (crowdfunder link below) πŸŠπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŠπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Following this there will be fun and games in the pool including relays and fun races - inflatables may or may not be involved!

After finishing in the pool, there will be a gathering the the Marsh fields, with more fun and games 🎳

Picnics are more than welcome or, if you fancy hot food, Fire & Grill on Abbotsbury Road are accepting pre-orders (must be done 24 hours in advance), please use a reference of β€˜Swimathon’ in your order so they know when and where to deliver it. An ice cream van will also be joining us from 6.30pm so people can get some sweet treats for dessert 🍦

We hope members new and old can join us next week and help our little club raise some much needed funds for new equipment for our swimmers 😊

Please can current club members respond on Spond and previous members contact [email protected] to express your interest in attending.

New kit incoming πŸ‘€

As you probably know, last year we celebrated the clubs 200th anniversary and for the past couple of years we’ve had a special kit to celebrate.

Now all the party poppers have been popped and the candles blown out, we thought by what better time to refresh the kit a try something new ✨

More details to come soon but here’s a little teaser of our roarsome new kit and colours πŸ¦–πŸ’™πŸ©·

We hope you are all enjoying you’re summer break in the sunny weather β˜€οΈ

We thought we’d ask two of our coaches if they can show you how you can continue to work on your swimming away from the pool πŸŠπŸ»β€β™€οΈ πŸŠπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

It’s safe to say they had very different ideas πŸ˜‚

Who’s idea do you think is better? πŸŒŠπŸ›Ή

Two weeks to go until training begins again

As the warm weather continues this summer, if you're heading to open water to cool down, remember that swimming at managed sites is always recommended, where lifeguards, safety measures and facilities are available.

It's also important to talk to children and young people about water safety before they head out, so they understand the risks and know what to do in an emergency.

If you're entering the water, follow the Water Safety Code:
πŸ’™ Stop and Think – Take time to assess the risks before entering the water.
πŸ’™ Stay Together – Never enter the water alone.
πŸ’™ Float – If you get into difficulty, float on your back and control your breathing.
πŸ’™ Call 999 – In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard if you're at the coast.

Stay safe, look after each other, and enjoy the water responsibly. πŸŒŠβ˜€οΈ

✨ It’s Swimathon time ✨

Last year for the clubs 200th anniversary we held a Swimathon challenging new members and old, of all ages to swim 200 lengths to celebrate.

It went down so well that we are doing it again this year! The aim this year is for swimmers to swim as far as they can within an hour - no fear for our younger or less confident swimmers, this can be done as part of a team or individually 😊

As a new addition, the club will be fundraising funds for some much needed new equipment, kit and courses for coaches and teachers so we can continue to grow 🀿

If you are a current club member and would like to attend, please respond via Spond which is also where you can find the sponsorship form πŸ“‹

If you are a previous member or legacy member and would like to attend, please email [email protected] to confirm your attendance and request a sponsorship form if desired.

After the hard part of swimming as far as possible in one hour, there will be some fun relays and games that everyone can join in with - maybe including a family relays for any competitive parents πŸ‘€

Following the pool session, there will be further celebrations on The Marsh after with more fun and games and food 🎳

If you are interested in attending, please respond via the relevant channel by Saturday 22 August 2026!

We’ve done it again πŸ₯³

Weymouth are Jurassic League champions for the fourth year running! πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†

Yesterday, swimmers of all ages took part in the final round of the 2026 Jurassic League in Bridport.

Despite the heat, both in and out of the pool, all swimmers put their all into the races (and the cheering πŸ“£) and we finished 1st for round 4 meaning that we also won overall!

For the always competitive canon, we once again took the the win and set the stage for the coaches race. Our coaches Simon, Lorna, Eddie and Lawrence had the swimmers cheering them on and put on a strong swim to place 5th πŸŠπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŠπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Thank you to every parent who has helped volunteer or officiate at any of the rounds and thank you to our coaches and team managers for making sure everyone was race ready throughout the 4 rounds 😊

And finally, well done and thank you to every swimmer who has taken part this year, whether you swam in one round or four, your contribution helped us to get this win!

We are mighty, mighty Weymouth βš“οΈπŸ¦–

Last Sunday our combined masters artistic swimming team, with members from both Weymouth and West Dorset, made the long journey up to Sheffield to compete at Ponds Forge in the Artistic Swimming Masters Nationals 2026 ✨

While some members have competed solos and duets before, this was the first time they were able to take a full team up to compete.

As mentioned before, the team is made up of swimmers from both Weymouth and West Dorset and we would like to celebrate the full teams achievements so results for everyone will be below!

There was a total of 6 routines swam: 3 solos, 2 duets and 1 team. The main goal for the team was not to finish last in any category as it was a very competitive year and that was achieved with no routine being last in their respective categories!

18-24 technical solo
Emily: 14th (the biggest category of the day!)

25-29 technical solo
Cameron: 6th
Dani: 7th

18-24 technical duet
Maisie and Holly: 8th

25-29 mixed technical duet
Dani and Cameron: πŸ₯‡

18-24 free combination team
West Dorset: 6th

This is a huge achievement for the masters team and we are so proud of everyone who swam, bring on next year! πŸ’ͺ🏻
