After a wonderful end to the regatta season, we say a sad farewell to Clive Capel after 23 years of coaching.

Clive started at the club in 2003 as a parent helper. Having never rowed before, it was a huge step into the unknown for him. He did a 'learn to row' and continued to practice on the job.

In the time he's been at the club, he's coached hundreds (if not thousands) of kids and changed their lives for the better. In his tenure, he's coached a number of athletes who went onto the highest level of rowing.

While im sure this is "au revoir" rather than "goodbye", we're still sad to see him go. We wish Clive all the best in his well earned retirement.

Many thanks to for the wonderfully presented model blades.

Staines Regatta - End of the 2025 season

Having had a fantastic year of rowing, all good things must come to an end 😔. Well done to all our crews who raced... putting in time and effort. Thank you to our coaches, who give up their free time to teach the best sport in the world. Thank you to all those who support the athletes and the club, whether in person or remotely.

A special mention to our MVP, Aidan, who raced all three waves... and won all three waves 👏

Our winners 🏆🏆🏆 (in picture order) are:

J14 2x (Aidan/Harry) won by 1.5 lengths

Senior men's 4+ (Jake/Owen/Ollie/Marco/C. Erin) won by 2 feet

J14 1x (Aidan) won by 3/4 a length (not pictured... probably off winning his third race 😉)

J16 2x (Hannah/Katie) won by 2 lengths

J14 4x (Bode/Harry/Aidan/Owen/C. Alex) won by 1/2 a length

WJ14 2x (Sophia/Hettie) won by a canvas

Thank you for a well organised Regatta! See you next year.

Wow, how time flies... already time for Henley!

Well, we had a great time at Henley qualifiers on 28/06/25. All our crews jumped at the chance to race at the most famous rowing event in the calendar and thrived.

While we may not have qualified, the experience we gained was huge, and we'll certainly be coming back for more... faster and stronger than ever.

Join in by watching from the towpath, local pubs or the refreshment tent at the finish, which has the prize giving area nearby.

Members of local rowing clubs are always present to talk to anyone interested in trying the sport.

Greece Training Camp 2025

The juniors made use of their Easter holiday, spending it how most of us would want to... rowing in the Greek sunshine.

We were once again invited to the 2004 Olympic rowing venue in Schinias and hosted by the wonderful .enoa. Some of our juniors had been before, but for many, it was a first time experience.

We can honestly say that everyone had a blast... both juniors and adults. Some of the adults even found time to go afloat themselves. Having multiple sessions a day meant that our juniors have now come away with much better technical skills and a "rise and grind" mindset.

We must thank our wonderful coaching team, who gave up their own holidays for the camp. Our fantastic adults consisted of Kostas, Kay, Nick, Sophie, Clive, Adele, Susie, Zoe & Noel.

We must again thank .enoa for hosting us, as well as inviting us to have a friendly regatta.

See you next year 🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷

UK waters remain dangerously cold, even as the weather gets warmer. ❄️

Jumping or tombstoning into rivers could trigger cold water shock, which can lead to drowning.

If you do find yourself in trouble, remember .

Hyne Cup 2025 - 09/03/25

After a long, dark winter... and a period of months off the water due to the river conditions; our crews participated in the Hyne cup private match between ourselves and .

This event comprised of 2 divisions, with both juniors and masters racing a 3000m course (head style). A huge well done to all those who participated in the race, with a whole lot of time, effort, and training going into their performances!

Weybridge had some wonderful results (especially considering the lack of water time), managing to win the "Masters Challenge cup" 🏆 (MAS H8+ with a time of 08:29) and the "Robyn Mercer cup" 🏆 (WNOV 8+ with a time of 11:11) .

We also came first in the following time trails:
J15 4x+ (10:22)
J14 4x+ (11:00)
WJ17 4x (10:51)
MAS C4x (10:08)
WJ14 4X+ (11:54)

For quite a few of our juniors, it was their first race or, in the case of the novice 8+, their first race in sweep after only a hand full of sessions.

Again, a huge well done to everyone, and thanks for the racing 👏❤️. Until next time...

Year in review 2024.

Weybridge had a year of ups and downs, which culminated in our annual Christmas pudding race. Unfortunately, the weather conspired against us, and we had to move to a land competition... with some delicious Christmas puddings being dished out to the winners... and runners up. 🎁

The Beagley award was presented to Will Daley for his "beyond the line of duty" contributions to the Junior section. Well done, Will! 🏆

This year, we sadly lost our treasured friend, and fellow rower, Peter Lawson. Peter was a well liked and respected member of our community whose loss is very much felt. We'll all be raising a glass to Peter this Christmas.

Our long s̶u̶f̶f̶e̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ serving coaches Nick and Graham retired this year after many years of service. Nick started coaching in 2003 and Graham in 2008. We are eternally grateful for their service to the club and the sport in general.

We also celebrated the 100th anniversary of the club sending a coxed four to the 1924 Paris Olympics. Against all the prejudice of their working class background, they raced and did their club and country proud. You can read all about it here: www.weybridgerowing.club/1924-olympic-crew

We had many wins to chalk up on the board this year, despite the mother nature's best efforts. We very much hope to win many more in the new year 😊.

We are very excited for 2025.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! 🎅
