Why we control our reps? You probably always hear us trainers say “slow it down!”

Here’s a few demonstrations on the slides shown of what we want some of those reps to look like…

When we slow it down, the muscle actually has to work through the whole movement. You feel it more, you build more, and your joints aren’t taking a beating in the process.

Controlled movement builds real strength through a full range of motion. That transfers to daily life and longevity far better than throwing weight around ever will 😂

We want to create more of a stimulus for your muscles and also protect our machines in the process too 😅

Where sports starts, health ends.

What we mean by this is that sports can be an occupational hazard. If you put yourself in that situation, more likely than not, you may injure yourself. That’s also not to say sports are bad 🙅‍♂️

We just like to make sure we can prioritise longevity and health 🙌

Not every session needs to be exciting. Not every week needs a new program.

Progress doesn’t come from constantly chasing something different, it comes from showing up to the same thing long enough to actually get good at it 👍

Stay the course, Trust the process, Let it be Repeatable. Make the progress you actually want 🫡

Meet Anne one of our clients here at NG 🙌

After two years of training with us at NG Health and Fitness, Anne has completely transformed her approach to staying active 💪

Before starting her journey, Anne was finding everyday tasks more difficult as time went on so we were looking to facilitate a better quality of life for that. She was also looking to increase muscle mass and manage her knee.

A builder once jumped off a ladder and landed on a nail that went straight through his boot.

He was in absolute agony. Gas and air. Morphine. Rushed to hospital.

When they finally removed the boot and looked… the nail had gone perfectly between his toes.

No tissue damage. Nothing actually injured. Yet the pain was completely real.

Pain isn’t always a reliable indicator of damage. It’s your brain’s alarm system trying to protect you — sometimes it’s accurate, sometimes it’s just a little overprotective.

So when our clients feel pain during training, we don’t immediately panic… but we also don’t ignore it.

We get curious.

We explore ranges, reduce load, adjust positions and work within your Goldilocks zone — the range your body can currently tolerate and control.

Because progress doesn’t come from pushing through pain.
It comes from understanding it.

Be curious, not judgemental.

Before any program is written, we assess the person in front of us. Your movement, your range of motion, your injury history, and your current ability all matter.

From there we build a program around you, not a generic template, so it’s completely unique to you.

We like to reinforce and prioritise control over constantly chasing heavier weights. Strength built with control lasts longer and reduces unnecessary injury risk for the future 🤕

Muscle soreness doesn’t always mean you had a great workout 🤔

When inflammation stays elevated, your muscles and joints don’t fully recover before the next session 🦴

Keep stacking that up and you’re not progressing, you’re just increasing your risk of injury 🤕

A productive workout isn’t measured by how sore you are the next day, but by good movement, progressive overload, and your ability to recover and train consistently 🙌
