The club kicked off their T20 Knockout Cup campaign yesterday evening, in our opening group game at home against Filleigh CC.

Having lost the toss we were asked to bat, where we found it hard going to begin with thanks largely to a good tight bowling attack from our visitors. We had limped along to 47-4 before a partnership of 83 from Steve Oliver (49*) and Tom Anderson (35*) saw us post 130/4 off our allotted 20 overs. A total which at one point looked well out of our reach. The pick of the bowling coming from Harry Pickard, who despite not picking up a wicket only went for 13 off his 4 overs.

Filleigh reached their target with the loss of 5 wickets and with an over to spare in a reply that was anchored around Jas Kalsi (67*) with support from Chris Cullen (22) and Matt Poole (15). Pick of the Park bowling was Ian Brown 4-0-20-2 and captain David Branch, who bowled the only maiden of the game, 4-1-12-0. There were also 1 wicket a piece for Rob Guppy, Harry Rainford and Steve Oliver.

The team suffered defeat this past weekend, in their opening match of the League Cup. Having been freshly promoted from Division 3 last season we have been handed the unenviable task of being drawn against last year's Division 1 champions Belstone CC and runners up Westleigh CC.

We travelled across the Torridge to local neighbours Westleigh CC, having lost the toss we were asked to bat on a damp and unpredictable surface. Batting was tough going due to the bowling, poor batting at times and surface. We were eventually all out for 104, which at one stage felt a long way off. The top scorer was Mark Lee with 26.

We battled valiantly with the ball and some top bowling from everyone was highlighted by Rob Guppy's excellent spell 8-0-20-3 which had Westleigh at one point on 35-5. But a partnership of 67 from Selwyn Fisher (83*) and the resolute Peter Gann (9 from 70 balls) took the host to the brink of victory. 2 more wickets fell to the hardworking Jolyon Malin but Westleigh reached the target for the loss of 7 wickets.

Great effort from all in the maroon and gold.

The side started the season and life in division 2 this past Sunday with a home match against Filleigh Cricket Club.

Amazingly the weather held off and we managed to fit in the full game. Winning the toss captain Dave Branch elected to field on a surface that looked like it could be lively.

A combination of the surface and some good bowling restricted our visitors to 108 all out. Pick of the bowling was Tom Anderson with 7-2-20-3, Jas Kalsi hit an excellent 70 in his team's total.

Park reached their target in just under 20 overs, with Steve Bond carrying his bat with a well played 55*
