Just an update - due to work commitments and some babysitting duties in Barcelona I won't be running any darts tournaments for the next three Mondays! Logun Godbeer and WSMDP will be running his at unit 27 I believe and I'm not sure what James Taviner will be up to at Winscombe but hopefully you can fill your time without the Wobbly Oche for a few weeks!
The Wobbly Oche will be back on Monday June 22nd!
If I get any volunteers in the interim to help out whilst I'm away I'll let you know and of course will get a comp up on darts atlas
Take care all!
And yes I'll post the last few results as soon as I can ....been a bit overrun with work including some all nighters and running on empty !
All the best!
Sophia

Some Bank Holiday darts comps tomorrow ....
Good numbers for the under 55 comp tomorrow at 49 Social Club (WsM) but not so many for the under 75 average running same time. If you are wanting to play please sign up. I'll probably go ahead and run it for a small select round robin group with a winner takes all if we only have enough for one board
Given the popularity of the blind pairs after the last Bank Hol I'll probably run that again if anyone interested

Monday the 4th May saw The Wobbly Oche run its second bank holiday day- time event, this time just an under 55 average event only due to lack of interest in an open. With learning from last time, we shifted to a 1pm start for the event and offered the option of a blind pairs competition. Due to lower numbers no breakfasts this time but there were some hot dogs around tea time, again provided by Mike Harding at the 49 Social Club (WsM)
We had three players registered with 55.45, 55.26 and 55.33 averages who were permitted entry (Josh Geal, Russ Scott, Ryan Greenslade)
We had 38 entries on the day, after £38 darts atlas entry and £20 paid out in 2 x darts card winnings leaving us with a £322 prize pot. £42 was apportioned for use in least legs and best finish at group stage (whatever combination of winners we got) leaving £280 for payouts at knock out stages. Last 16 losers got £5, many of which disappointingly just put the money straight in the fruit machine (you know who you are!) quarter finalist losers got £20 each, semi finalist losers got £30 each, the final loser £40 and the winner getting £60
Yes we like to reward as many people as possible, some people may not like it but that's how we are playing it here! We decided on best of 5 at group stage and I welcome feedback on whether doing best of 5 at this stage was good or bad
At group stages we saw Ryan Greenslade with an early 18 darter and 130 out. Max Maggs then impressed, also with an 18 darter and a 160 out.
Mike Harding also got an 18 darter early doors. However this was eclipsed by Mike Harding destroying Chris Gallagher in the group stage with a 3 nil win averaging 85 and getting two 16 darters in the process. Well done Mike and Max winning £21 each at group stages.
So by the end of the group stage we had Bradley Bateman, Codi Wagstaff, Russ Scott, Ryan Greenslade, Clive Winter, Lewis Dingley and Chris Butler topping their groups
After everyone had their fill of hot dogs, the draw progressed automatically with no tech issues (phew!) and we saw an interesting quarter final line up Josh Rose v Mike Harding, Ryan Greenslade v Max Maggs, Codi Wagstaff v Joe Ely and Josh Geal v Russ Scott.
The semi finals saw 3-1 wins for Mike v Ryan and Codi v Russ, meaning a Mike Harding v Codi Wagstaff show down. For Codi this was his consecutive final having won the previous week's Monday night comp.
In the end Mike won out in a messy match where doubles won the dough
Well done Mike!
We then had a blind pairs comp (DIDO, 301 best of 3) for anyone who wanted to join.... Fiver entry per pair. We ended up with ten pairs, so a couple prelims first to get to the quarter finals. We did this all on wipe boards so participants actually had to mark properly after all that tech ! The prelims saw Dan & Steve's partnership short-lived against Sophia and Paul, whilst Chris B and Lewis crashed out against a great pairing of Paddy and the days comp winner Mike. This did mean then that Soph &Paul had to meet Paddy & Mike in the quarters.Chris G and Brad B managed to beat Jude & Eli, whilst Jason & John beat Max & Jack, with Codi & Josh beating Ross & Mev.
Mike & Paddy powered through to final against Chris G & Brad ( we are actually not sure how much Chris Gallagher remembers of this competition having joined the ladies early on in drinking shots 👀 🤣)whilst Jason & John beat the great pairing of Codi & Josh. In the end it was Mike & Paddy that won the blind pairs. Well done, winning £15 each and the losers getting a tenner each.
I hope you enjoyed the day ...Chris G I hope you got home safely in one piece😏 you were a mess!
Mike also got a Bullseye Glass & special bullseye beer from me (no idea what it tastes like !) .

The 27th April was a quiet week with just 14 players signed up. We boosted the prize pot back to a total £80 by breaking the kitty into the red....we'll trawl it back from some darts cards sales later in the next few weeks I hope! Sticking with best of three in groups we put everyone through with the two best players from all groups getting a bye to quarter finals...it was a complicated process but thanks to all with bearing with me whilst I worked out the last 16 format ;)
Early doors saw James Taviner get an 85 checkout in a 21 darts leg. Codi Wagstaff then impressed with an 18 darter, 68 average including 76 check out, Tony Chadwick yet again being the one made to suffer at the hands of the best effort at group stages!!
James Taviner and Ian Stringer got the byes to quarter finals. In the semi finals Josh Rose exacted his revenge on Ian from the previous week's final with a 3 nil win, Ian was so dejected he slipped off without his loser's pay out 👀 (don't worry I held on to his tenner and he got it the next week!)
Meanwhile the young Freddie Harper who had impressed all evening put in a good fight against Codi Wagstaff but lost out 3-1.
So we found Josh Rose now in a consecutive final but this time against Codi. We stuck to best of 5 for the final given the time. Codi won this 3 nil and for Josh it was his doubles that let him down. Another good week and some learning for me on working out bespoke games with just 14 players

On 20th April, despite lower numbers (19) we made the executive decision to keep prices low at a fiver per entry - but still paying out finalists and semifinalists as well as best finish and least legs at group stages. Apologies to Charlie Revill over some confusion over attendance as we signed him in!!
Ryan Greenslade was under 55 at the time of signing up the week before but was 55.23 by the time of the evening but I discussed with the group and he was permitted to play.
Josh Geal impressed early in groups with a game where he averaged 73.32 against Tony Chadwick, getting a 111 out and a 21 and 20 darts leg in the process. Impressive!!
The semi finals were over quickly with Ian Stringer taking out Sophia Hepple 3 nil and Josh Rose beating James Taviner 3 nil.
This meant it was Ian Stringer in a consecutive final, this time against Josh Rose. As we had time we played a best of 7 and Ian quickly took the first three legs without giving Josh even a chance at a double. The 4th leg saw an impressive 19 darter from Josh but ultimately Ian Stringer won the second week in a row and the 5th time since we started these Monday night games..... Somehow he's still under 55!

From the 13th April we have the opportunity to run 4 boards upstairs and 4 down. So in theory a maximum of 40. On the 13th April we ultimately ended up with 32 players across 8 boards with all 32 getting through to knock out rounds
We had slight delays due to a few late arrivals who had let us know in advance they were slightly delayed. Thank you for letting us know!
Ryan Williams continued to impress, repeating his 132 out from the other week and which stayed as the best finish of the evening
James Taviner then impressed with a 17 dart leg! Well done both!
With the speed that a group of 4 could finish we went straight in with best of 5 games for the last 32
In the finals we saw a tight match between Bradley Bateman and Chris Parry, with the players winning on throw and ultimately it looks like it was whoever won the crucial bul won't out with Chris edging out Bradley in the final leg despite Bradley's better average
On the other half of the draw Ian Stringer took rapidly took Greenslade to 3-1 with prompt dispatch of the double but the 5th leg Ryan had a chance to get back in and it was his doubles that let him down with Ian winning 4-1
So it was a Chris Parry Ian Stringer final in which Ian pretty much battered Chris 4-1. Like the previous semi final Ian punished his opposition when he failed to take the second and 4th legs on his own throw meaning.
Amazingly Ian is still sitting below the 55 average whilst we've have to chuck our poor Ryan Williams till his form dips (hopefully not!)
The 20th April was capped in the end at 20 players as we had only reached 19 thus morning
We'll keep the options going forward for 40 player 8 boards through rest of spring summer months if people want to play but will keep the options to cap on Monday mornings if we only gave 20 or less. So if you intend to play book on ahead of the Monday morning deadline
