Hi everyone
We’re very sad to report the passing of good friend of Hilly Helmet Robert Courtier, who passed away yesterday peacefully in his sleep after a fight with cancer.
Rob took part in Hilly Helmet from 2019 right through to 2025, only missing this year because he was too ill to attend after being admitted to hospital towards the end of June.
Rob was an active member of Barking Road Runners and travelled to Wiltshire each year from Essex to see his friends and run at our event because he loved it so much.
Rob had made lots of friends in the area and became a second claim member of Corsham Running Club and we’re very sorry to lose him and are thinking of his family and his friends tonight.
Rest in peace Rob

Good morning all.
It was really nice to see you all at the 10th running of Hilly on the 5th August, thank you all for your support once again.
I’m delighted to announce the final total for the amount raised for our charity partner Brain Tumour Support from our event this year, which is £4628.75. This includes donations on the night and since via the charity web page and raffle ticket sales and cake sales on the night, which gives us a total of £50,570.75 over the decade we have run Hilly.
It’s been an amazing time seeing an event that was originally going to be a one off doing so well, even surviving Covid 19 with our virtual event that was also well supported.
None of this would have been possible without the help I have received to put the events on, both in person and financially, which has enabled us to ensure 100% of every entry fee reached the charity.
It just remains for me to thank everyone who has played some part, no matter how small, in helping ensure the success of Hilly over the years.
If you didn't make it this year but would like to donate to Brain Tumour Support you can do so directly via the link below. Please mention Hilly Helmet when donating.

Every day, 45 people in the UK are diagnosed with a brain tumour. Your donation helps provide specialist emotional support, counselling and practical guidance to families when they need it most.

Almost a week after the event and I'm still buzzing. Really pleased with how the event went on the night last week, many thanks to all who made it possible. Estimated total figure will be very near to or surpassing £5000 this year which includes entry fees, raffle ticket, Brain Tumour Support Merch, Hilly T shirt and cake sales. Also included is the donation from Mark Owens volunteering fund.
Since the night I've spoken with others who have also made direct donations to the charity, even one just this morning, all helping to boost the total, which is wonderful.
Congratulations to all who took part once again. If you enjoyed it as much as the looks on all your faces suggested, we'd be very grateful if you'd let others know by reviewing us via the link below. We might even get another award.
Thanks again

Well, what a great night we had again last night. With a healthy number of sign ups already, we were delighted to see a good queue of people keenly signing up on the night too, giving us a healthy 126 runners on the night.
As usual, there were some amazing helmets on show, I’m glad I’m not involved in having to choose the winner!
Jan from Westbury run group took the prize with her circus ten(t) creation. Quite how she kept it on all round the course I really don’t know.
Fist male finisher was Gary Day of Avon Valley Runners, for his second hilly win. First Lady was Emma Surridge of Frome Running Club.
Now I’ve finally got straightened out and put all the Hilly Helmet kit away, I’m thinking of all those who have helped make it possible.
There far too many people to name in person, so I won’t try, then I won’t miss anyone out.
Suffice to say, event partners, volunteers, participants, our event location and refreshments, these are just the obvious people without whom none of this could happen.
I’m really proud of and grateful to everyone that has played even just a small part in the success we have enjoyed for the charity Brain Tumour Support over the last 10 years and delighted not only at the amount of money we have raised but also the vibe you have all brought to the event. It’s clear from the smiles in all the photos that you’ve enjoyed the event as much as I have.
Many thanks to all who pre ordered t shirts. We’ve had some further enquiries, so if you’d like one, please get in touch and we can look to place another order.
If you ran but didn’t get a memento, please let me know as I seem to have more left than expected.
