(Internal thoughts: What could possibly go wrong?)

5 minutes later…
– Hit on the head twice with the nozzle
– Burnt three times… including my LIP
– Left with soaking wet hair because apparently she’d “had enough”

So if anyone’s looking for a new stylist, she’s currently taking bookings.

Payment accepted in sweets.

She does make a cracking cuppa though ☕️😂

You’re not stuck.
You’re scared.

Six years ago I had a moment that shook me.

I remember thinking…
There has to be more to life than this.

Not surviving.
Not co-existing.
Not just getting through the days.

And here’s the uncomfortable truth…

There wasn’t a gun to my head.
There wasn’t a locked door.
There wasn’t someone physically trapping me.

It was me.

I was telling myself I was stuck.
Telling myself I couldn’t move.
Telling myself “this is just how it is.”

But what was really happening?

My brain was freezing 🧠
Trying to keep me “safe.”

Here’s the danger no one talks about 🚨

If you keep telling yourself you’re stuck…
You will build a life around that belief.

You will wake up in 5 years in the exact same place wondering where the time went.

The truth is… I had never really been happy 🤍

I thought happiness came from likes, comments, compliments.
From filters ✨
From Botox.
From cosmetic surgery.
From thinking maybe a “mummy makeover” would finally make me feel better about myself.

I kept telling myself I’d be happy when…
When I lost the weight.
When my body looked different.
When my teeth were whiter.
When life finally felt easier.

There was always a next thing.

And yes — I did try fixing my body.
I had cosmetic surgery thinking this will be it.
But almost instantly, I found myself picking at the next flaw…
Bashing myself even more.

And then it hit me 💔

My children didn’t want a “perfect” mum.
They wanted a happy mum.

Not the mum pointing out her tummy roll every time she sat down.
Not the mum hiding behind clothes or filters.

They wanted the mum who laughs freely.
The mum who wears the bikini because she feels happy within 🌊
The mum who isn’t at war with herself.

And that’s when I realised…

It was never my body that needed fixing.
It was how I felt about myself 🤍

If you’ve ever said “just my luck” — this is for you 💭

On Saturday, I had plans I was really looking forward to.
I’d mapped my whole day around them.
Even picked the outfit 👗

Then something BIG happened — plans changed.
(Okay, not really big… but it felt big in that moment.)

And that used to knock me off 😔

The thoughts would start…
“Typical.”
“Why does this always happen to me?”
“What’s the point now?”

I’d feel sorry for myself.
Reach for comfort food 🍫
Stick Netflix on 📺
Tell myself I’d start again tomorrow.

And a good day would quietly slip away.

I genuinely thought that was just bad luck.
That this was just how I was.

But the truth is — I was running on autopilot 🔁

This Saturday was different.

I felt upset in the moment… then I shifted ✨
And the day ended up being one of my most productive.

Not because I don’t feel things.
But because I’m now aware of what’s happening in my mind.

And that awareness is everything 🤍

We’re so quick to say,
“I’d never do that.”
“I’d never react like that.”
“I’d never stay.”

But the truth is…
you don’t actually know how you’ll react until you’re in the situation.

I remember watching Derren Brown: The Edge and realising something uncomfortable:
under the right pressure, with enough fear, exhaustion, and isolation,
anyone can be pushed to a place they never imagined.

Not because they’re weak.
But because they’re human.

Decisions made in survival mode don’t look like decisions made from safety.

From the outside, judgement is easy.
From the inside, you’re just trying to get through.

I used to believe I knew exactly what I would and wouldn’t do.
Life humbled me.

And it taught me this:
compassion matters more than judgement.

So before you judge someone else’s choices —
ask yourself… have I ever stood where they’re standing?

Because most of us carry parts of our story quietly.
Not because we’re ashamed —
but because we’re afraid of how it will be received.

And silence often isn’t weakness.
It’s survival.

Judging is easy from the outside.
Living it is different.

5 years ago someone gave me the best advice I’ve ever heard.

“There’s more to life than the one you’re living… but you have to be the one to change it.”

And wow… it hit something deep inside me.
Because it was right.

I’d been unhappy for years.

I felt like a failure.
Like I had nothing going for me.

I had two beautiful children… but still felt empty.

And that made me feel guilty.

I kept telling myself,
Be happy. Be grateful. Look what you’ve got.
A partner.
Two kids.
A beautiful home.
A car.
Family. Friends.

But no matter how much I listed… it still wasn’t enough.

So I started searching outside of myself.

Maybe a new car will fix it.
Maybe cosmetic surgery.
A new wardrobe.
A filter here, a filter there.
Date nights.
Smiling photos pretending everything’s perfect.

But deep down… I wasn’t.

Then I thought,
I just need a job. I need to feel like more than “just a mum.”

Application after application.
Rejection after rejection.

Then my travel business.
“Yes, this is it!”

And it helped a bit.
I hit promotions.
Started earning my own money.

But still… something was missing.

So I sabotaged.
Comfort eating.
Staying in on my own.
Partner out again.
Watching everyone else look happy.

I felt broken.

This wasn’t the life I dreamed of.
I wanted more.

But if I’m honest?

I was just sitting there… waiting.

Waiting for someone to rescue me.
To save me.
Like some Disney movie where the princess gets chosen.

Until one evening… that advice came to me.

And here’s the crazy part.

It didn’t come from someone else.

It came from me.

Call it God.
The universe.
My higher self.
Whatever you believe in.

But something inside me just knew.

And it changed everything.

I stopped waiting.

I realised no one was coming to save me.
No one was responsible for my happiness.

If my life was going to change… it was on me.

So now I’m passing that same advice on to you…

There’s more to life than the one you’re living.
But you have to be the one to change it.

So…

Most of your self-doubt didn’t start last year.

It started when you were a child… and you never questioned it.

Not because you weren’t capable.
Not because you weren’t trying hard enough.
But because one moment quietly convinced you…
“I’m not enough.”

I realised where mine began this week.

I was 10 years old.

SAT results day.
All that revising.
Late nights.
Trying so hard.

And I didn’t get what I wanted.

And in that tiny, ordinary moment…
my brain made it mean something bigger:
“See? No matter how hard you try… it’s not enough.” "I am not enough"

I didn’t know it then…
but that belief followed me for nearly 28 years.

Into relationships.
Into my business.
Into every win that never quite felt like a win.

Even recently, a friend told me how much my Glow Up Challenge changed her life…
and instead of feeling amazingly proud?

My brain whispered…
“It’s still not enough.”

That’s when it clicked.

If you believe you’re not enough…
nothing will ever feel like enough.

Not praise.
Not success.
Not proof.

Just constant chasing.
Constant pressure.
Constant exhaustion.

And suddenly I saw it clearly…
I wasn’t lacking.
I was living from a 10-year-old’s conclusion.

And a child shouldn’t be deciding my worth 🤍

So now I get to change it.
