Horse Riders - you NEED this exercise in your lives
The one leg circle. This exercise is a WD40 for our hips. But outside of riding it gets you to use your hip joint for how it’s meant to be used, circumduction not just stuck in flexion!
What it helps Pilates edition ⬇️
Leg isolation and unilateral work
Different use of breath
Unilateral stability
Hip joint mobility
Works hamstrings, quads, abdominals and muscules around hip joint
What is helps riding edition ⬇️
🐴 Working one leg at a time, our sport doesn’t allow us this
🐴 You have to be so aware what the stability side of your body is doing whilst you’re moving the other limb ( diagonal patterning, how our horses move)
🐴 Pelvic stability!!! So you can put any leg aid on required and your torso and pelvis, pardon the pun, stay stable
Teaching points ⬇️
❌ Avoid over using the hip flexors
✅ Imprint your spine in to the mat using your abdominals
✅ Be aware of your foot and leg alignment
✅ Connect your rib cage
✅ Be aware of your pelvis trying to roll laterally keep it in the middle
❌ don’t kick the wall 😂
✅ Keep the movement fluid and controlled ( now doesn’t that sound like any moment in riding)
