Emma Richardson represented The Links in Div 3 in The Race to Woodhall Spa today at Colchester. Whilst she didn't make it through to the final this time, she came a very respectable mid - table (10th /17) Emma had been practising hard for the event and it is great that she was flying the flag for The Links Golf Club and keeping us on the golfing map. Thanks Emma and Well done!

HOLE IN ONE ALERT!!!

Seniors Captain Irving Newton achieved a hole in one on the 12th hole to bring his tally to three! Unfortunately, due to being vertically challenged, he was unable to see the ball drop into the hole. Fortunately, playing partners Kevin Hadley and Captain Ryan Neave witnessed the shot and were able to commentate as the ball rolled into the hole.

Well done Irv! ⛳️

Congratulations to two of our Links Ladies who both came runner up in their leagues in The Norfolk Ladies County Competition at Barnham Broom yesterday. Jane Davies was runner up in Division 4 and Jane Gomm in Division 3. Congratulations to them both for doing us all proud. Apologies for no event photo, but a photo of our ladies enjoying some Links Ladies social time.

Links V Sprowston

Well done to the Links Ladies that took part in today’s friendly, who have had an impressive start to the friendlies this season and continued today with a win against the Sprowston Ladies 2-1
It was a game enjoyed by all and in good humour too.
The lunch was a success and enjoyed in the ‘homely’ decorated Pavillion ( with thanks to Cheryl & Emma for helping out with design and ex*****on!)
Thanks also to members Dee, Mary and Caroline , who were unable to play but stayed to enjoy lunch with the teams.
Our thanks also, to Helen for arranging the friendlies and taking on the role of catering liaison!
All in all, the success was down to amazing team work by the loveliest bunch of ladies ever !!!

Team Links continue their fantastic start to the season, remaining unbeaten across all inter-club competitions!
Today we welcomed Caldecott Hall Golf Club for our second Handicap League fixture. With the course in great condition and the weather on our side, Team Links delivered an excellent performance to secure a well-earned 3-1 victory ⛳️👏
Huge thanks to Caldecott Hall Golf Club for making the journey to our course and contributing to such a competitive and enjoyable match played in great spirit throughout.
Special thanks also to Dom Hazard, Adrian Hannant, and Thomas Hall, who despite not playing, generously gave up their time to caddy and marshal the road to ensure play ran smoothly. Your support is greatly appreciated!

An excited group of Links Ladies ventured to Royal Norwich today for a friendly match. Despite it being a long course with more bunkers than we are used to, and a water hazard, we won three games to one. The Ladies of Royal Norwich were so gracious, friendly and welcoming to ensure that we all had a good game and a fabulous day. As always, The Links Ladies have sime fun and laughs along the way and today was no exception when our attendent supporter Norma Neave raised £20 for a sponsored silence (.... and they all said she couldn't do it!). Tea and cake was enjoyed in lovely surroundings and of course, none of us could resist the 50% off rail in the pro shop (of course, we can't divulge who made purchases.. they wish to remain anonymous 😆). Well done Ladies, and our thanks to Royal Norwich for a brilliant day.

Cullington Cup Round 1 vs. Great Yarmouth & Caister Golf Club (AWAY)

Another away day for Team Links, following on from their recent Handicap League victory at Great Yarmouth and Caister we travelled to the same opponents for the Cullington fixture. A 36 hole foursome fixture with the winner having a home fixture in the next round. An early start meant some early alarm clocks as we set off for Norfolk’s Blackpool at 6.30am.

The first 18 holes had some mixed results with 2 defeats and 2 wins but that meant it was all to play for in the afternoon session. After some grateful sustance (chips and sarnies) laid on by our gracious hosts, Team Links tweaked the pairings keeping our winning pairs together and gently freshening up the other pairs. Our wining pairs (Howell and Shepherd & Waldron and M Hannant) kept up their winning streak in the afternoon meaning the 1 of the other pairs needed to secure a 1/2 point for victory. Lawes and Hazard lipped out on the 18th for a narrow defeat but Hall and A Hannant managed to hang on to secure the 1/2 point needed.

Special thanks to Tom Hall who stepped in at the last minute so we could field a full team.

All players played their part and it truly was a team effort. Great Yarmouth and Caister golf club were excellent hosts and gracious in defeat.

The Links, a small club with a big heart marches on.

On a cloudless, 17 degrees centigrade, very windy, Wednesday 29th April at 9 hole course Feltwell, on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, 5 pairs of the Links Senior team won the away match in a very competitive but friendly Barnard Foursomes (alternate shot) competition.

The team of Cliff Pegg (Captain for the day) + Tim Cunningham, Dave Bates + Dom Hazard, Dave Bayle + Dave Walmsley, Kevin Hadley + Mark Nelson-Griffiths, Irving Newton + Martin Lawes won 3 of the 5 matches played and thus winning through on 3 points to 2 points.

The final match of Irving and Martin saw us through to the winning post and ready for the next round which will be at home against either Searles or Heacham on June 3rd.

The match was played in a friendly spirit and banter around the meal tables and out on the terrace justified what a great spirit the match was played in.

The opposing Captain Paul Grisbrook was gracious in wishing us all the best in our 2nd Round match.

The meal of chilli and nacho's with extra chilli and cheese and mayonnaise on a side plate was well received and the alternative Ham Egg and Chips was also enjoyed by one with a "delicate stomach". Some people (not named) even had two plates of food!

A match, hard fought, but The Links savoured victory..

Well Done Team!

The Links Ladies Captain's spring away trip was a veritable golf extravaganza with a good mix of social events and spa indulgence enjoyed by all our Ladies. The Links Ladies took advantage of three days of golf (some doing 54 holes!) at Wensum Valley. Arrival day was spent challenging ourselves to the championship course as a warm up for the big day. Captain's trophy was on day 2 on The Valley Course, with some amazing high scores. The green Jacket was won by Emma Richardson with 45 points, 2nd place went to last year' winner, Jane Gomm. Prizes were awarded for nearest the pin on two holes won by Dawn Smith & Cheryl Buckley. A few fun prizes caused some hilarity and a sweep for the most "nil points" with a kindly donated prize by Jane Davies raised a nice sum for the Captain's Charity EACH. There was of course equal amounts of social activity with games and a brilliant quiz compiled by Joan Munday. Our Links Ladies are a friendly, welcoming bunch who know how to enjoy their golf. If you think you would like to join us for golf in the future, do please contact our Captain Cath O'Keefe.
