🌞 Commodore’s Day 2026 is here! 🌞
Our big summer event for members of all ages takes place on Sunday 5th July 2026 — and it’s a day not to miss!

⛵ Club Championships – from 10.30am
Adult racing, Topper racing and double-handers, with three short morning races, a quick early lunch, then three more short races in the afternoon. Lots of prizes to be won!

🧒 Junior Fun Sailing Events – from 10.30am
Fun sailing activities for Oppies, Optimists, Topper beginners and intermediates in the morning, followed by more fun after lunch until 3.00pm.
Please note: there is no normal Sailing School, but the activities will count towards RYA certificates.

🍔 Barbecue – 3.00pm
Uta and friends’ amazing barbecue for everyone.

🏴‍☠️ Pirate Ships – 4.45pm
Juniors dressed as pirates, armed with water pistols, can expect to get very wet!
The Commodore walks the plank at 5.10pm.

🏆 Prizegiving – 5.15pm
Prizegiving for all activities by the Commodore — if still alive!

SECOND FRIENDLY FRIDAY 2026. THIS EVENING FRIDAY MAY 29th

WEATHER PERFECT : Sunny all evening, 25C, 6 knot westerly. Clouds are expected to blow away this evening
Sailing, paddle boarding, canoeing, relaxing on patio with prosecco or beer or ice cold wine.
Everybody of all ages welcome, including friends:

FOOD:
Barbecue set up for you to cook your own barbie food at whatever time you choose. No barbie food provided by club
I will cook pizzas as ordered, with a few spare for the forgetful

Mike's weekend rhythms on new club system

There are many new members of Sailing School and Trysail (Nick please forward) who are very welcome to come and you can bring friends.

Children of all ages very welcome.

Urgent. I still need two more helpers please.

This is important for SAFETY REASONS Please e-mail me if you would help out on any of following:

1 Safety Boat drivers, to do a 45 minute shift each. Uta and Mike B have volunteered. 1 more please to do short sessions and spread the load
1 to set up the barbecue and put away
1 or 2 experienced Vision sailors to give joy rides. Again a shift system is ideal.
All to tidy / wash up, at end, please. Many hands make ..............., etc. The last Friendly Friday you were all great at this. Thank you

You have all read about water accidents this week. The water is still cold and can cause shock. So do wear wetsuits on the water

RYA Safety Boat course: Saturday 10 & Sunday 11 October (£55, Members only, 16 and over, PB2 and at least a year’s powerboating experience); it is a fun, wet weekend.
• Follow-on from Powerboat Level 2
• Learn to provide safety cover in a racing or training environment
• Learn to recover sailing boats and other watercraft, and their occupants from a range of situations

An additional Powerboat Level 2 course (members only) has been arranged for this year.


RYA Powerboat Level 2 course: Sat 27 June & Sat 04 July (£55, 16 and over, no experience necessary)
• Learn to handle a powerboat safely
• Learn close quarters handling, high speed manoeuvres, man overboard recovery and collision regulations
