Your £100 session fee is not the same as earning £100 an hour. 💷

Once you factor in time off, unpaid admin, marketing, room hire, supervision, CPD, software, insurance, tax, NI, pension and savings, the amount you actually take home can look very different.

This is why setting fees based only on what “feels reasonable” — or what other therapists charge — can leave a practice financially stretched.

A sustainable fee needs to support you, your business and the quality of care you want to provide. 🌱

When someone searches for you — or for a therapist in their area — your Google Business Profile may be one of the first things they see, sometimes before they ever reach your website.

So it matters that your information is accurate, current and gives the right impression of your practice.

But Google can feel confusing.

You may have heard people talk about SEO, search engines, rankings and optimisation without really knowing what any of it means — or what you should actually be doing to help more potential clients find you.

And that’s where many therapists get stuck.

Supporting small businesses isn’t just something we believe in at Prospering Practices — it’s one of the reasons PP exists.

Likes, followers and reach can be useful measures of marketing — but they aren't the only ones.

And sometimes, they aren't the measures that matter most.

For an exemplary practice, it can be worth stepping back and asking:

🌿 Are the right people finding us?

🌿 Do potential clients understand what we offer?

🌿 Does our marketing reflect the way we actually practice?

🌿 Are we building trust before someone ever makes an enquiry?

🌿 Are the things we're spending time on actually supporting our practice?

Sometimes the answer might be yes.

And sometimes, it might be time to prune.

A strategy, platform, type of content or way of working that once made sense might not be serving the practice anymore.

Pruning isn't failure. It's making space for what matters.

Because sustainable marketing isn't necessarily about doing more.

It's about being intentional about what you keep, what you change and what you let go of. 🌱

And perhaps one of the better measures of success isn't how many people liked your post...

but whether the right people came away understanding, trusting and remembering you.

Your website is often the first experience someone has of your practice.

Before they meet you.
Before they speak to you.
Sometimes before they even decide whether to enquire.

So it's worth asking: "Does your website reflect the practice you're building?" 🌿

A therapy website doesn't necessarily need to be complicated or beautifully designed.

It needs to be thoughtful.

It should help potential clients understand who you are, who you work with, what they can expect and how to take the next step.

It should communicate your values and approach in a way that feels authentic to you - while also giving the person visiting the site the information they need to make an informed decision.

Because good marketing isn't about convincing someone to become your client.

It's about giving them enough clarity and confidence to decide whether you might be the right fit. 🤍

And sometimes, when you're the person who has built the website, it can be difficult to see what a new visitor sees.

That's where a fresh perspective can be helpful.
