The 1s travelled to Borstal where they won the toss and elected to field which paid off as the bowlers consistently took wickets on what looked a decent deck as they managed to restrict their opponents to 183 in what was a good effort by the lads. The chase got off to a rocky start as one of the openers got a duck but other opener Vansh Chhetri never looked unnerved as he eased to 80 not out with the support of Jack Sopp who just about managed to get his 50 as the pair strolled to the winning total as the lads won by 8 wickets!
The 2s welcomed Yalding to the snakepit as they won the toss and bowled first hoping the weather from the week before would pay off, the innings ebbed and flowed with wickets consistently falling but their opener glued it together before he fell to Jake Miller, who took 3 in the game, which then led to our adders needing 169 for victory. In a similar mode to the 1s’ game, they lost an opener early but the other one scored 50, but Steve Merralls fell before he could see his team home but that was no trouble as Tom Wooding saw the lads over the line with 51 not out to keep their unbeaten start!
The 3s were sent to Teston in a friendly where they were put into bat on a dicey pitch where runs were hard to come by but it looked like Rob Goss was batting on a different pitch with his 31 before he eventually fell and the lads were only able to post 126 which was always gonna be a struggle to defend. But they gave it their best efforts as captain Alex Pollington led the charge taking a 3fer but thanks to their opener scoring 50, the opposition managed to chase down the target with a couple of wickets to spare.
The KVL side faced local rivals Kings Hill and wanted to bat first which looked a great decision as they managed to score 213 with Matt Smith scoring 52 before the tail wagged after a bit of a collapse in the middle order, which meant the boys were confident. However, despite a couple of early wickets, the opposition number 3 batsman was in fine nick as he got to 98 before he fell which gave the lads some hope as they took a few more wickets in a clump, but the damage had already been done with Kings Hill winning the game by 4 wickets.
