Well done to Mike Goldsmith and Jim Hiddleston (along with Alison Watson, who plays at Roslin) on their pétanque success today, helping Wellbeing in Midlothian win the inaugural Gordon Duckett Memorial Trophy. 🏆

Both Mike and Jim are members of West Linton Bowling Club and regularly enjoy both bowls and pétanque at the club.

If you would like to give pétanque a try, get in touch and come along to our new pétanque piste. No experience is necessary, and we are always happy to introduce new players to the game.

We are planning to join the Lothian and Borders Pétanque League next year alongside 10 other clubs. West Linton Pétanque are looking for a few more players to strengthen our squad. Whether you have played before or are completely new to the sport and willing to learn and practise, you will be made very welcome.

New Community Sports Club Noticeboard Unveiled

We are delighted to have installed a new outdoor noticeboard at the front entrance to the Community Sports Club, home to our Bowls, Tennis and Pétanque facilities, as well as our Hall and licensed bar.

The noticeboard will be used to promote upcoming events, activities and club news, allowing local residents and visitors passing by the green to see what is happening and how they can get involved.

We have kicked things off by promoting our upcoming ABBA Tribute Band Night and Scotland v Morocco Fanzone Experience on Friday 19 June. Tickets are still available, but sales have been strong and places are limited. The QR code on the noticeboard, or the link below, will show live availability and will indicate when the event has sold out.

🏆 Peeblesshire Bowls League Update

Our bowls team continued their excellent start to the season on Tuesday evening, securing all 8 league points against Peebles by winning all three games.

The victory was our third win of the season and moves us into second place in the league. It is still early days, but we are pleased with the strong start and look forward to the challenges ahead.

ABBA Tribute Night + Scotland Fanzone at West Linton Bowling Club ⚽

Join us on Friday 19 June for ABBA Night+, featuring live ABBA tribute act An ABBA Dream on stage from 8pm to 10.30pm.

After the ABBA tribute, we’ll be turning the club into a Scotland Fanzone as Scotland take on Morocco with an 11pm kick-off, shown live on our large TV screen.

With Scotland’s squad now selected and excitement building as we get closer to the competition, it’s the perfect night to get together, back the team, and enjoy the match on the big screen.

Our winning streak continues with two excellent league results today:

🏆 Midlothian League
West Linton beat Inveresk 6–0 this morning.

🏆 Peeblesshire League
West Linton beat Peebles 1 8–0 tonight.

A fantastic effort from everyone involved — well done to all players. The momentum continues.

Two great results for the West Linton team today.

This morning, we picked up a win in the Midlothian Over 55 League away at Rosslyn BC, followed by another away win this evening against Broughton 1 in the Peeblesshire League.

A fantastic effort from everyone involved.

The Glenconnor competition was a fantastic day of bowls, bringing together 14 teams and 56 players from clubs across Peeblesshire for a highly competitive and enjoyable event.

With the sun shining all day, players and spectators alike enjoyed not only the quality action on the green, but also the warm hospitality on offer. The food, drinks, and refreshments were greatly appreciated, helping to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere from start to finish.

West Linton were delighted to host the event and had two teams competing on the day.

The semi-finals featured two strong contests, with St Ronans and Peebles battling for places in the final stages of the competition.

After a day of excellent play, the honours went to:

🏆 Glenconner Trophy at West Linton Bowling Club 🏆

We are delighted to be hosting this year’s Glenconner Trophy on Sunday 10th May, with play starting at 9.00am.

This prestigious Peeblesshire bowling event will bring 56 bowlers from across the county to West Linton Bowling Club to compete for the trophy. West Linton will have two teams competing on the day.

The first round gets underway at 9.00am, with matches played on a knockout basis — see the full draw below for the teams taking part.

Breakfast rolls will be available in the morning, with soup and sandwiches at lunchtime. Cash and card payments accepted.

Come along, enjoy the bowling, and support the teams. Good luck to everyone taking part!

🎯 Pétanque this Friday from 6.30pm
We’ll also have pétanque on our pistes this Friday evening. Come along and give it a go — boules and coaching will be provided, so it’s perfect for beginners as well as anyone who has played before.

Our Financial year ends on the 31st of December, and we are required to have the AGM within three months.
With this in mind, we will hold the AGM on Sunday, the 1st of February 2026, at West Linton Bowling Club at 2 pm.
