WEST LINTON OPEN PÉTANQUE CHAMPIONSHIP
Fancy trying pétanque or already enjoy playing? We’re starting a new friendly singles competition at West Linton Bowling Club, running through the winter to our Finals Day in March.
The competition is open to experienced players from West Linton and beginners. If you live in a nearby village or town, you can also enter provided you are new to pétanque.
Never played before? Come along to our Introduction Session on Sunday 11 October at 10am. We’ll provide all the equipment and show you how to play. Further Sunday sessions will be arranged during October if there is demand.
The main competition starts in November, although anyone joining early can start playing their games during October.
Games will normally be played on Sunday mornings from 10am, when the piste will be available, but players can arrange another mutually convenient time if Sundays don’t suit.
Depending on the number of entries, everyone will either play each other in one league or we’ll split into two leagues, leading to our Pétanque Finals Day on Sunday 14 March 2027 at 10am.
There is no normal entry fee. At each game, players simply buy a can from the club fridge or pay £1. Equipment can be provided if you don’t have your own boules.
There will be medals for the finalists, with the winner’s name added to the West Linton Open Pétanque Trophy.
