Allandale Tarn Fishery Although Allandale Tarn has been a fishery for just over 35 years, the Tarn itself has been in existance since around the mid 1840's.

Originally the site of 'Parafin Youngs' no.1 shale mine & working village, it was originally dug out & lined with hand made bricks to hold water to power the steam engines, used to work the surrounding parafine oil extraction shale mines. The waters eccology has has more than ample time to develope over the 180 plus years. That is why Allandale is well known for it's 'top of the water' sport all y

ear round! The Tarns crystal clear waters come from springs which keep the water level the same all year around & many anglers use these clear conditions to enable them to actually 'stock' individual fish, our resident Brownies are a particular favourite for this.

An absolute belter of a morning out here at The Tarn. The sun is shining, all the birds are singing their wee hearts out & it's warming up already.
Although I was rudely awakened early by a woodpecker chapping the bedroom window, demanding the feeder get refilled.
Aye it's a braw day.
Remember we close at 5pm on Sundays folks, but still plenty of time to escape to wet a line!..

A beautiful looking morning, but it is on the windy side. It's going to be sunshine & showers on & off today going by the forecast, with temperature highs of around 14'c. We're about as sheltered a spot for fishing as it gets anyway & we're fishing until 10:30pm tonight.

Wed 9am - 10:30pm
Thur 9am - 10:30pm
Fri 9am - 10:30pm
Sat 9am - 10:30pm
Sun 9am - 5pm.
Monday & Tuesday closed.

Fish absolutely bubbling all the around the water this fine morning.
We're fishing until 5pm today, so an earlier finish for us. Remember we are closed Mondays & Tuesdays as always for maintenance, but we'll be back open from Wednesday, with the fishing hours moving up again to 9am - 10:30pm!!!

Good evening folks!. Just a wee reminder that we close early on Sundays. The gate will be open for 8am as usual, but our fishing hours tomorrow are 9am - 5pm.

Plenty going on at The Tarn today as you will see if you're out fishing here later this week, this was just the start of it. You'll get a full cast off every platform, with more work getting done tomorrow. It's looking damn good if I do say so!.
