are all about dealing with the thrown at you and we're here for them!!

After a few days of great progress along the South Coast, we suddenly lost all power πŸ”‹ on our boat as we came past Portland Bill yesterday afternoon πŸ˜•... this meant complete loss of our electronic 🧭, lights & comms systems.

We were already making for harbour at Bridport to wait out some nasty winds πŸ’¨ coming through today. We still had 18 miles to go and the tide just turning strongly against us 🌊, so we kept rowing hard that way while Aoife worked through the troubleshooting steps to see if we could identify and fix the problem πŸͺ› (unfortunately without success).

Luckily we were blessed with calm clear weather, a glorious πŸŒ… and a full πŸŒ• to light the way as we navigated along Chesil Beach to the harbour, steered in by Jess & Kat just after midnight.

Today has been a race to get the problem diagnosed and fixed before the weather clears in order to avoid further delays. With our usual electrician unavailable until tomorrow, this meant activating our networks to call round every marine electrician we could find in the area... eventually leading us to the amazing Kev, from Marine-Tec Systems, who came straight along to help us out πŸ˜πŸ’™

Thanks to Kev the problem is now fixed and future-proofed, meaning we will set off late tonight having learned more about our boat, made some new friends and wasted no time at all πŸ™ŒπŸ’ͺ- huge thanks to Jim & Andy back at GB Row HQ, Katrina (who found us Kev), and the Solent Coastguard who checked in with us each hour by phone to make sure all was OK as we made our way to harbour πŸ’™

Are we carrying on? You bet we are! All the good bits of this adventure are still to come, there are still records up for grabs and we have our science and storytelling missions to complete! When the weather window comes, we’ll be grabbing it!!
