Yoga With Alice D

Yoga With Alice D Inclusive, dynamic and relaxing yoga embracing the strength of being a woman at every life stage Welcome to the Yoga With Alice D. Are you scared of yoga?

Do you feel you won’t be able to do it ‘properly’ or all the other ladies will be younger and more flexible and you will feel out of place? My classes are VERY DIFFERENT from ‘drop in’ gym classes. I absolutely do not care what age you are; what shape you might be; how fit you are; or if you have any yoga experience. My women’s classes focus on sensation over form - how does each pose feel? We are

all blessed with our own unique bodies and so everyone’s individual practice will be beautifully different - it is about your own self-care journey. YogaBellies® sessions incorporate a range of yogic and holistic techniques which create a unique experience for our clients. Our sessions incorporate traditional yoga asanas (postures), self-hypnosis and deep relaxation. YogaBellies® classes are entirely unique and our class formula means that 86% of our class attendees have never set foot in a yoga class before. We make sure our classes are non-scary, non-threatening, welcoming and open to all levels of practitioner. We believe that yoga is accessible to everyone. I am delighted to offer:
YogaBellies for Pregnancy
YogaBellies for Fertility
YogaBellies for Mum & Baby
Nurture by YogaBellies (Baby Massage)
YogaBellies for Women
YogaPause (Yoga for 35+ Women)

This week, we’re finding our centre. 💚
This 40-second reel is a little excerpt from our Heart Chakra practice—featured in Monday evening Women’s Yoga, Wednesday lunchtime Yoga and Yoga in the Woods.
The Heart Chakra sits at the centre of the chakra system: a pivot point between the lower and upper halves of the body. Like the balancing point of a seesaw, it invites us to explore equilibrium—not as something perfectly still, but as something we continually adjust and return to.
Throughout this week’s practice, we’ll create length and space along the lines of the body—extending through the legs while reaching through the arms, then consciously drawing those lines of energy back towards our centre.
Rather than simply flowing from one posture to the next, we’ll focus on conscious placement: noticing where the hands, feet and limbs are, and how each movement feels from within.
As always, we’ll also be tracking the energy of the Moon, moving at our own pace and letting go of how a posture is supposed to look. The practice is guided by safety, sensation and what feels right for your body today.
Perhaps equilibrium isn’t about holding everything perfectly balanced. Perhaps it is about knowing where your centre is—and trusting yourself to return to it. 💚

THE FULL MOON AND THE CORAL REEF 🌕🪸
For anyone who believes the Moon has no connection to life on Earth, something extraordinary happens beneath the ocean each year…
On the Great Barrier Reef, during the nights following a full moon in spring or early summer, entire coral colonies release their eggs and s***m into the water at almost exactly the same time.
Billions of tiny pink, orange and yellow bundles rise towards the surface, transforming the ocean into an underwater snowstorm.
This is called mass coral spawning—one of the most remarkable synchronised reproductive events in the natural world.
Coral cannot check a clock or consult a calendar. Yet entire colonies, including different species, coordinate this fleeting moment when the conditions are right for creating new life.
Several natural cues work together:
🌕 The lunar cycle and changing moonlight
🌊 The tides
🌡️ Seasonal water temperatures
🌅 The time after sunset
🗓️ The changing seasons
The full moon isn’t acting alone, but it forms part of the natural rhythm that allows the coral to synchronise.
The fertilised eggs become tiny, free-swimming larvae. Some eventually settle on the reef and begin forming new coral colonies.
I find that completely magical.
It doesn’t prove that the Moon controls our moods or behaviour—we should always be careful not to claim more than the science tells us.
But it does show us something beautiful and undeniable:
The lunar cycle is woven into life on Earth.
Perhaps that is why working with the Moon can feel meaningful. Not because it dictates how we should feel, but because it offers us a rhythm to notice—an invitation to pause, reflect and become curious.
Just as the coral responds when its conditions align, perhaps we can ask:
What is ready to be released?
What is waiting to emerge?
Where is new life quietly beginning?
And what might happen if I trusted my own timing?
The Moon doesn’t have to control us to remind us that we are cyclical beings living in a beautifully cyclical world. 🌕✨

Can you spot the moon? 🌙
That tiny white crescent in this morning’s blue sky is the 43% moon, shining above us as we practised Yoga in the Woods.
It felt especially meaningful because today was a CorePlay practice. Each time we reached upwards through our Sun Salutations, the sun was there—but so was the moon. ☀️🌙
We explored the balance of yin and yang: the sun and the moon, strength and softness, movement and stillness. We ended with a Cycles Relaxation, reflecting on the lunar cycles and the ways in which we, too, move through different phases and energies.
Seeing the sun and moon sharing the same sky felt like such a beautiful metaphor for everything my classes stand for: we don’t have to be only one thing. We can hold strength and softness, energy and rest, light and shade—all at once.
Practising beneath both the sun and the moon felt incredibly special today. Almost like nature had added its own little signature to the class.

Back to school. Back to you. 🤍
At the school gates this morning, I saw so many familiar faces—women who once came to my classes with babies in their arms, now watching those same children walk into school for the very first time.
It is such a strange, heart-wrenching milestone.
We spend years helping our children become independent. We encourage them to take those little steps away from us—and then suddenly, there they are, walking through the school gates into a whole new chapter.
It is a huge transition for them, but it is a transition for us too.
There can be pride, excitement and relief, alongside sadness, worry and the feeling that time has somehow moved far too quickly. Perhaps there is also a little space opening up—and the question of what we might place within it.
For me, September often feels more like a new year than January. It brings a natural opportunity to reset our routines and think about what we would like to return to—not necessarily by doing more, but by making space for something that supports us.
If yoga hasn’t been part of your regular routine recently, this could be a lovely moment to come back to it.
There are several ways to practise with me this September:
✨ Monday Evening Women’s Yoga at Halton Village Hall
✨ Wednesday Lunchtime Women’s Yoga at Wendover Memorial Hall
✨ Saturday morning Yoga in the Woods throughout September
✨ And online women’s classes coming very soon, offering another way to make yoga fit around your life
Different days, different settings and, soon, the option to practise from home—but all offering a little time to move, breathe and reconnect with yourself.
Back to school. Back into routine. And, perhaps, gently back to you. 🤍
Bookings are available through my website.

93% of mothers surveyed said they experience burnout.
And 58% said they feel burned out often or almost always.
The research also found:
• 70% get fewer than five hours of uninterrupted sleep
• 71% say they carry more of the childcare and domestic work than their partner
• 42% say they carry significantly more
These figures stopped me in my tracks—not necessarily because they were surprising, but because they put numbers to something so many mothers experience.
The work of motherhood isn’t only the work we can see.
It’s remembering appointments, organising childcare, keeping track of school dates, noticing when something is running out, anticipating what everyone will need and constantly thinking several steps ahead.
It is physical, mental and emotional work—and much of it continues even when a mother appears to be resting.
Burnout shouldn’t simply be accepted as part of being a good mum. Feeling overwhelmed doesn’t mean that you’re failing. It may mean that you’ve been carrying too much, with too little opportunity to properly recover.
Do these statistics surprise you—or do they feel completely believable?

In tonight’s CorePlay class, there are several different layers you might choose to focus on…
🌙 Honouring the moon’s 88% energy — neither at our most dynamic nor our most gentle.
☯️ Exploring the balance between yin and yang, effort and softness, and the masculine and feminine energies within us.
🤍 Focusing on the back, abdominal muscles and pelvic floor—the foundations of every CorePlay practice.
🌬️ Allowing the breath to become a steady thread running through the entire sequence.
You might choose to focus completely on your pelvic-floor engagement. You might explore the balance between strength and softness. Or perhaps you’ll honour your own 88% by adapting the practice to meet the energy you actually have today.
That is what I love about the complexity of these classes.
I offer the movements, the themes and the different layers—but you choose where to place your attention and how you want to experience the practice.
The sequence may be shared, but the practice is always your own. 🤍
What would your focus be tonight?
