Congratulations Steve! 🏆

We are absolutely thrilled to share that our very own Steve Pitman has been named Sports Volunteer of the Year at the Gloucestershire Volunteer Awards 2026.

Steve has given two decades of outstanding dedication, commitment and service to Southside, making a huge difference to our club and community. This award is so well deserved, and we couldn’t be prouder.

Everyone please note ...

The Cheltenham Youth Football League will once again be supporting The FA’s Silent Support Weekend, taking place on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th March.

This is a national initiative designed to create a more positive matchday environment so that young players can find their own voice and enjoy the game.

The key messages of the weekend are simple:

• Spectators applaud good play.
• Spectators refrain from shouting instructions or criticism.
• Coaches maintain a calm presence, offering guidance where needed but allowing players to make more decisions.

The aim is to reduce pressure on young players and encourage them to communicate, make decisions and enjoy their football.

By taking part, our league and clubs help reinforce the message that youth football is about development, enjoyment and positive behaviour on the touchline.

Many clubs who have previously supported the initiative reported that players appeared more confident and engaged when given the opportunity to lead more on the pitch.

Some exciting news, at the start of the year I wrote an application to the SoGlos Awards to nominate the Bournside Sports Centre under the category of sporting venue of the year.

Yesterday I was notified that we had made the shortlist for the 2026 awards!

This is a massive achievement in itself, especially as we are up against venues such as Kingsholm Stadium!

Now we need you & everyone you know to register and vote for us in order to make the top three and progress forward to the awards ceremony.
