Our ladies veterans team had their final matchday on Saturday. The ladies put in another tremendous team performance which led to them finishing second in the Championship. The battle was hard fought for second place, however, Welwyn managed to pip Harpenden and Hoddesdon to the post by one point.
Goalkeeper Danielle, worked hard with her defensive line to only concede two goals in five games which led to her worthy win of the Championship Golden Glove award.
The midfield and attacking performances were just as impressive, with Welwyn creating many chances over the course of the matchday. The first Welwyn goal came from debutant, Juiletta, who was thirsty from the off after a long awaited return from injury. Great to see her back in action. Hayley scored a vital goal against Harpenden to secure all three points against one of the ladies nearest rivals in the league.
The ladies awarded Player of the month to Katie. Katie’s performance demonstrated both strength and determination. Her hold up play, challenges and drive going forward was incredible to watch. Katie joined our veterans team at the start of the season having never played competitive football before. Her growth and development over the course of the season has been phenomenal to watch and we look forward to seeing her continue to grow and develop on her footballing journey. Well done Katie.
