🏌️ Welwyn Garden City Golf Club Junior Open ⛳

We were delighted to welcome over 50 junior golfers to Welwyn Garden City Golf Club for this year’s Junior Open.

After some very heavy rain showers, we were blessed with a perfectly timed break in the weather, giving the players warm and sunny conditions for the competition.

There was some fantastic golf played throughout the day, with James Andrews of Letchworth taking the Best Gross Overall prize with an excellent score of 69.

A huge congratulations to all of our prize winners and everyone who took part. It was fantastic to see so many talented young golfers out on the course enjoying competitive golf.

A big thank you also goes to everyone who helped make the day possible, and to the parents and supporters who came along.

WE’RE HIRING – WEEKEND HALFWAY HOUSE POSITIONS ⛳️☕🥪

Welwyn Garden City Golf Club is looking for two friendly, reliable and hardworking people to join our Halfway House team at weekends.

You’ll be looking after golfers out on the course by serving hot and cold drinks, preparing and serving hot and cold sandwiches and refreshments, and making sure members and visitors receive a warm and friendly welcome.

You’ll also help ensure that food hygiene standards are maintained and the necessary records are kept up to date.

The Halfway House is typically run by two people, so you’ll normally be working alongside another member of our team. It can get very busy at peak times, so we’re looking for people who are happy to get stuck in, work hard and provide great service with a smile.

Spring/Summer hours:
⛳ Saturday: 8:45am–4:00pm
⛳ Sunday: 9:00am–3:00pm

During autumn and winter, finishing times move earlier in line with sunset.

This could be a great opportunity for someone local to the area who is looking for regular weekend work and would like to become part of a vibrant, friendly team and golf club community.

Welwyn Garden City Golf Club is the only private members’ golf club in the Welwyn Hatfield area – and the home club of Sir Nick Faldo!

Commemoration Jug 2026 🏆

On Saturday 1st August, WGCGC hosted the Sir Nick Faldo Commemoraion Jug for the 37th playing of an event introduced to commemorate Sir Nick Faldo's victories at The Open Championship.

Saturday’s event delivered some spectacular golf again, with excellent scoring across both rounds. Congratulations to Letchworth’s Laurie Owen, who claimed the Commemoration Jug with an impressive total of 7-under par. Congratulations also to Knebworth’s Tala Clarke, who won the Marlene Duke Trophy for the best female player.

A special mention goes to home player Harry Cox, who stepped in as a marker at short notice and produced two outstanding rounds of 67 and a remarkable 63 in the afternoon.

Our thanks go to Brett and his team for presenting the course in fantastic condition, Vincenzo and his team for the excellent food, the bar staff for their great hospitality throughout the day, and to Harry, Curtis and Brandon from the Pro Shop for their help in ensuring the event ran smoothly.

A special thank you also to everyone who volunteered with scoring, marshalling and ball spotting, and of course to Marlene Duke for all her hard work in organising the 37th playing of this wonderful event.

We look forward to hosting the 38th playing of the event next year!
