🎳 Swans’ Skittles Night 🎳

Last week our Swans had a bit of change of game. Paddles weren’t needed for this one … as we took to some good ol’ fashioned Somerset skittles

23 ‘Picklers’, including spouses and friends, had a fun evening battling it out using all sorts of strategies in the hope of scoring a perfect ‘strike’ for their team. Naturally, on several occasions, this included some rather suspect bowling (!) but, in fact, a couple of strikes were actually made!

We grouped into two teams - played 2 legs, took a break to have a delicious buffet, then played 2 more legs. The final result was remarkably close - only 5 points in it! Final scores 254 / 249.

The evening was filled with lots of laughter, energy and entertaining (and questionable) bowling techniques! A fantastic evening - big thanks to our Social Secretary, Juliet 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼

❣️ Red Nose Day❣️

Our Swans sported an array of red last night in support of Comic Relief! It was such a fun charity evening seeing Team Nose (Captain Debbie) taking on Team Red (Captain Caroline) 🙌

After 5 rounds of games, Team Red were in front with a 15 point lead (380 - 365) 💪 The two teams went into the final whole-team game which was worth 20 points! It could’ve gone either way… and after a hard battle Team Nose took the win and claimed victory with 385 points (you could say they won it by a Nose !)

We were spoilt for choice with a yummy spread of cakes to keep our energy up for the games! A massive thank you to all our wonderful bakers 🫶

As a Club, we were able to raise a total of £182 for Comic Relief which was donated this morning ❣ a phenomenal amount for just a couple hours of play!

🏆 Pickleball Club Championship Cup – Round 1

Wells progressed through Round 1 of the PCCC Tournament at the weekend, after a tight and dramatic contest against Moonraker.

The ladies’ doubles ended in a 2–0 loss, but the men levelled the tie with a 2–0 win. Wells then took control in the first mixed doubles, winning 2–0 to put themselves in a strong position.

The final mixed doubles went down to the wire. Wells took the first game to lead 1–0, but Moonraker fought back to win 2–1. With the tie level on matches, Wells advanced on total games won, edging it 5–4.

Well played to Gretel, Deb, Mike and Mark for a great team effort 🦢

The next Round is on Saturday where Wells will take on Pickle Choppers - Purple Team 💪

A wonderful way to spend a soggy Sunday! Today we hosted Frome Pickleball Club for a friendly, playing Rally 21 Plus scoring 🔥

We played a number of games Wells vs Frome and then mixed the players in so everyone got to chance to play with one another! The time flew by
Frome were a fun bunch to play against and with … and every game was really close! 💪 We look forward to the next one 🦢

What a turnout we had this afternoon for our annual Friends & Family session

A number of our Swans attended with a mixture of their friends and family all ready to give pickleball a go!

The three hours absolutely flew by with lots of games played with everyone mixing in - we all burned off a mince pie or two! 🦢

Thanks to all who made it, it was a really fun afternoon 😊

Swanbreros bagged second place in Division 2 for December’s Team League at the weekend 🥈

The team had a great morning battling it out against the other three teams (Sherborne, Ilminster and Purbeck)

Looking forward to it starting up again in the New Year 💪 🦢 (after a little festive break!)

A fun-filled fantastic festive evening at at the weekend to kick-off the season!

It was great to come together and a raise a glass to another successful year for the Club and all our wonderful Swans 🦢

A massive thank you to our Social Secretary - Juliet - who makes all these brilliant events happen throughout the year 🫶

🙌 Wells & Bridgwater Friendly 🙌

What a fantastic afternoon with a wonderful pickleball club! The Swans welcomed Bridgwater players to our ‘home turf’ at Wells Leisure Centre, where everyone got stuck into each of games. Throughout the hall you could see a number of close games, nail-biting rallies and a lot of smiles 😊 a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was had by all… and the half-time baked goods and treats were well received too 😋 🧁

Thank you Bridgwater for coming over to play with us - we look forward to the next time already 🦢

A few of our Swans had a fun afternoon yesterday supporting Wells Leisure Centre’s Community Day with 3 hours of ‘pop in and play’ pickleball. Lovely to see so much new interest for the sport across the age spectrum - some pickleball pros of the future for sure! 🦢
