With excercise so important to our physical and mental wellbeing, ever thought of trying to play some tennis either as a new interest or returning after a long absense from the sport?
Wells Town tennis club is opening it's doors this Sunday morning, 27th April, so why not come along between 10am and 1pm, have a go and chat to some members to see if it's something for you.
We have a fabulous facility with very reasonable prices (memberships or pay-2-play) where you could join in with twice weekly social doubles sessions or if that's a little too sedate and you fancy some combative singles, use our online court booking system to reserve court time amongst your own group of friends. There are many options.
Bring any ideas and questions of how the club might better serve the town and it's residents of all ages. This session is specifically for adults but we may consider a wider family session if there is enough interest.
The summer is almost here, come along, revitalise those vitamin D levels and see if tennis could be the thing for you β˜€πŸ˜ŽπŸŽΎπŸŽΎπŸŽΎ

Yesterday, we held the club's annual mixed doubles tournament in memory of Mary Bircham. The day was marked with two groups of mixed doubles competing in a round robin format to identify a wining lady and gent from each group. A final was then played with those winners. To add to the enjoyment, we also held a BBQ with desserts and drinks which all went down extremely well and we were certainly fortunate with the weather, finishing up just as the rains came down. Here is a brief summary of the results. Thanks to everyone that came, played, helped or just watched :)

A most enjoyable morning and lunchtime of very competitive tennis. The round robin went extremely well and resulted in John O'Malley and Lynn Pigney winning in group 1 with Lucy Goulston the winning lady from Group 2 with Kevin Wick and Alan Lawson tying (Kevin only winning on countback from their head-2-head result).
The final was then played between John O/Lucy G vs Kevin/Lynn and started well but was sadly interrupted with John suffering a foot injury in the 2nd game and could not continue. Matt Caragher stepped in as 2nd in that group but was difficult to come in cold (and half way through his drinks & BBQ). Lynn and Kevin then took the final with a steady and confident performance with some fine net play.
Thanks to all and let's do it again soon. Cheers Kevin

Yesterday, we were fortunate to play the club's annual "Mary Bircham mixed doubles tournament" in what were exceptional conditions for the time of year. 16 players fought it out in the sunshine from 10am until 2pm with fun, competitive matches followed by a delightful lunch of chili and baked potato and a slice of cake courtesy of Suzanne Stratton and Paula/Peter Baldry. Thanks to everyone who participated and made it such a fun event. Congratulations to Tracey Griffin and John O'Malley for their well deserved victory in the play-off final against Claire Bottom and Kevin Wick.
NOTE: Winter social tennis continues every Sunday from 10-12am and also on every Wednesday from 2-4pm. All are welcome🎾🎾🎾
