On a dank and wetting morning at Lyng Bowls Club the Shipdham Bowls Club team edged a close victory over WTBC in the Elmham Cup final. With Wells winning one rink by 7 and another by 1 it was Shipdham’’s Captain Jo and her lead Harold and exemplary skip Bradley that made the difference with a 17 point win on rink 5 giving Shipdham the win.
Congratulations to Shipdham - allegedly they need additional sponsorship for a new trophy cupboard 😂 in case anyone knows of one !!! - and also to Wells Town for a genuinely courageous performance up against the mighty league winners.
We look forward to doing battle again next season.
Thanks hugely to Lyng BC for hosting the cup final and to Mark Codman and Michael Johnson for organising the league and cup competitions this year. We’ve much enjoyed our first year in this league and are excited about our promotion to the A division next year.

Excited to be playing Shipdham Bowls Club, the A division league winners in the Elmham Cup final tomorrow (Sunday) morning at Lyng Bowls Club at 10.30am.
Our first venture into the Elmham League this year almost holding on to the B division top spot until Aldiss Park pipped us by a point in their last match - congratulations to them.
Do come and support at Lyng tomorrow- we’re looking forward to the challenge!

Our internal comps finals day yesterday celebrated the great progress WTBC has made this year. The quality of bowls played in almost all of the 75+ games played was quite astounding, particularly given the quite small number of years that most participants have been playing.

Club Singles - Martin Parris beat Janie Clements 21-14
Ladies Singles - Carolyn Ann Swift beat Su Parris 21-11
Derek Styman Trophy- Martin Parris beat Layne Clements 21-4
Mens Singles - Matt Whitaker beat Chris Holmes 21-19

We play all these as a ‘roving cot’ (cot=jack in Norfolk !) format and so many matches have been close because the underdog is relaxed and free to play their best shots - which, to the favourite, is so frustrating!!

Congratulations to all the winners and commiserations to the runners up. Our pairs cup will be fought for in a couple of weeks.

WTBC hosted two North Norfolk Bowls League cup finals yesterday on a beautiful afternoon.
South Creake Bowls Cub took the subsidiary final to win the beautiful Freda Howell Bowl beating Burnham Coronation by 11 points.
Docking Bowls Club then did battle with Bintree Bowls Club with Docking showing the consistency they’ve shown all season to the Grange Cup by 12 points.
Both matches were played in great spirit with some excellent bowls played.
