Everyone at Shropshire County Cricket Club is saddened to learn of the passing of Bill 'Welder' Davies, who contributed so much to Shrewsbury Cricket Club for many years as a player, groundsman and in so many other ways.

He was also a keen supporter of Shropshire CCC and attended many of our matches.

Shropshire CCC chairman John Hulme, a former Shrewsbury team mate, said: "Welder really was one of Shropshire cricket's greatest characters and warmly loved by so many."

Our thoughts are with Bill's family and many friends.
