We’ll be looking out for these when we visit today! You’ll need to be quiet though guys!🤣That might be tough for you I know!🤫
Some of our visitors were lucky enough to have an otter sighting at Summer Leys last week! 🦦
Otters are regular visitors to the reserve although they can be hard to spot 🔍
Looking for signs is often easier than seeing the animals themselves- look out for five-toed footprints and their droppings, or ‘spraints’. They leave them in prominent places, such as fallen treee, weirs or bridges, as ‘scented messages’, helping them to find mates and defend territories. Despite containing fish bones, they actually have a rather pleasant smell- like jasmine tea!
