WASC is a volunteer run organisation for swimmers in the local area.

We are Swim England affiliated, SwimMark accredited and offer a range of swimmer development. Swimmer development ranges from children's swimming lessons to competitive swimming coaching, through to National Standard.

Craig Brown: Fifty Years, One Club, Questionable Bus Etiquette

At seven years old, while the rest learnt to swim,
Craig Brown joined WASC — and refused to give in.
Some kids drift away, changing course through the years,
Craig dug his heels in… for fifty long years.

Fifty years loyal — yes, really that long,
Always there smiling, still keeping things strong.
If he were a stick of rock from the coast,
One bite through the middle and boom — “WASC the most!”

He prowled poolside coaching, sharp eye with arms crossed,
Knew every time and birthday… and reminded you lots.
Then Chair of the committee — power received!
With calm, control, and leadership achieved.

Organised. Dedicated. Setting the tone,
A pillar of order, impressively grown.
Which makes it far funnier, everyone knows,
That beer on the bus happened after the shows.

Yes, Craig Brown once thought, as legends will do,
“Rules are flexible… and this lager is too.”
Sat smug on the back seat, enjoying the ride,
Hydration priorities slightly misapplied.

So here’s to Craig Brown — coach, chair and club fixture,
Fifty years on — captured forever in picture
From poolside perfectionist to beer bus parade,
The heart of WASC — and the trouble he sometimes made.

Long may he serve, advise and support,
Just maybe keep the beers away from public transport.
A club legend true, through chaos and class —
Craig Brown: WASC through the middle… and probably the glass.

TRIPLE REGIONAL CHAMPION 🏆

Tonight, Alice completed her Breaststroke hat-trick, taking GOLD in the 200m event.

She DOMINATED the entire race, winning by more than three seconds.

Well done Alice! 🏊

REGIONAL CHAMPION 🏆

On Saturday Alice became our first age group regional champion since 2017, taking gold in the 100 Breast.

Alice 2026 - 1:15.96

A 4.93 second improvement in a year!

The swim was excellent, keeping her cool as the defending champion went out faster, Alice's back end speed could not be matched! She won by nearly a second, in a new PB and club record.

On Sunday, Alice made it two for two, taking gold in the 50 Breast. The end of the race was incredibly close, with the top three only separated by a quarter of a second. Alice took gold by 0.12, in a swim that required absolute precision.

Huge congratulations to Alice on your two regional gold medals, good luck with your 200 on Sunday, we'll all be supporting you!
