With two event wins this season, ๐๐๐ฏ๐ข๐ง ๐๐๐ง๐ญ sits at the top of the Funny Car Cup standings heading into the European Finals. With a healthy lead, The West Ten Motorsport team will be looking to lock up a fifth title. However, itโs not over until itโs over, and two other drivers are still in with a chance of snatching the title if things go their way.
Separated by just one point, second place ๐๐๐ฅ๐ ๐๐๐๐ค๐ฌ Hawk Racing Fuel FC with two final-round appearances, and third place ๐๐จ๐ก๐ง ๐๐ฉ๐ฎ๐๐๐๐ซ๐ Showtime Racing, winner of the Main Event, will both need a strong qualifying performance and will be hoping Kevin Kent does not reach the final if they are to have any chance of securing the Funny Car Cup title.
With 100 points available for each round win and 50 points for a round loss, provided the driver takes the light under power, there are plenty of variables that could affect the outcome of this yearโs points chase. A semi-final appearance for Kent could potentially be enough to secure the title, depending on the qualifying performances of the other contenders. Even the extra points for low ET and Top Speed of the event ( 10 Each) could end up being a deciding factor in this yearโs title race. But, as we know, racing is decided on the track and not on paper, so anything can happen!
Although not in title contention, three other teams will be looking to spoil the potential party and claim some silverware themselves at this yearโs final event.
Last yearโs winner, ๐๐ญ๐๐ฏ๐ ๐๐ฌ๐ก๐๐จ๐ฐ๐ง, returned to racing at the third event of the year, Bug Jam, and went straight into the final again. Undertaker Racing be looking to go one step further this time around!
2019 Series Champion ๐๐๐ฏ๐ข๐ง ๐๐ก๐๐ฉ๐ฆ๐๐ง has been improving all the time and will be looking to get the Thermoreg International Ltd Funny Car back to winning ways.
Previous series winner ๐๐๐ฌ๐จ๐ง ๐๐ก๐๐ฅ๐ฉ๐ฌ also returns with Elsom Motorsport - One Bad Texan AA/FC team and will be looking to take them back into the final, having appeared in it at this event two years ago.
Itโs looking like itโs going to be an exciting weekend as six Funny Cars take to the track at Santa Pod Raceway for the deciding race of the 2026 Funny Car Cup.
A champion will be crowned ,and could we see new records fall along the way?
