Shudan Wellingborough Judo Club

Shudan Wellingborough Judo Club Wellingborough Judo Club is a small friendly club established over thirty years ago. Wellingborough Judo Club accepts all players from age five upwards.

The instructors have many years of martial arts experience between them and provide classes which that mix technique and fun, whilst also providing competitive elements of judo like randori ( free sparring ). The club has also enjoyed success in competitions with both junior and senior players that have competed and medalled in National and International competitions. This is the youngest age covered by our insurance. Players at this age will be taught the basic elements of Judo, and when ready, can move into the Mon grade grading system. This is a set of 18 skill levels, which are distinguished by different coloured and banded belts. Regular opportunities for competition also ensure a child's interested is maintained. All our Judo coaches are BJA registered which involves a DBS check and participation in Sports Coach UK Child Protection Workshops. Judo Club Training Times

Day two of competitions this weekend for Shudan Judo Club; this time at the AJA East Midlands Area Open in Earl Shilton!

​Eight of our fighters stepped onto the mats today, and every single one is bringing home a medal.

Extra shoutout to Erin, Aoife, Erika, and Isla, who showed absolute grit fighting for the second day in a row after competing yesterday at the Heart of England!

The team fought their hearts out, with everyone coming away with a bagful of experience, wins, and bringing home one major medal haul!

We are so proud of everyone and their performances and determination. They all represented the club so well. So much improvement was on show today.

A tough day at the English Closed championships for both Erin and Ethan no placings this time but lots of learning in their new age bands and tough days are sometimes what we need to get better. Small steps on our way to building champions. We will shake this one off and get back to training ready for more competition next weekend.

Great turnout at Shudan Judo Club!
​Huge thanks to everyone who stepped onto the mat for our free Open Randori Night this Wednesday. The atmosphere and hard training were top-notch!

​A special shout-out to Bucks Judo, Bedford Judo Club UK, and Sakura Judo Club for traveling over and making the session a massive success. Good judo, great practice, and even better community spirit.

What a weekend at Waxham Sands!
Huge thanks to all our Shudan Judo Club members, families, and friends who joined us for our annual camping trip last weekend.

From sunny beach walks and fairground rides to well-earned seaside fish & chips, it was amazing to see everyone enjoying some healthy outdoor fun off the mats together. The Shudan family spirit was out in full force!

A huge congratulations to Connor on achieving his Level 2 Judo Coach qualification! 🥋👏

This is a fantastic achievement and thoroughly deserved.

Connor is a valued member of the coaching team at Shudan Judo Club, where he dedicates so much of his time to helping both our junior and senior players. Whether he’s demonstrating techniques on the mat, supporting our members during training, or spending his weekends coaching and encouraging our juniors at competitions, his passion and commitment to the club are clear for everyone to see.

Our members are incredibly lucky to have such a knowledgeable, approachable, and dedicated coach. We’re proud to have you as part of the Shudan family and can’t wait to see the positive impact you’ll continue to have on the club.

Day two of contests, and eight of our students headed over to Erdington, Birmingham, for the AJA East Midlands Area Mix & Match competition.

​For this event, players are put into small groups based on their size and grade, ensuring some great, evenly-matched contests.

Once again, our group showed up with incredible determination and put on a brilliant display of judo on the mat.

First up this weekend was the Summer Championships at Northampton Judo Academy, and once again they put on a smooth, well-run event for the players.

Our group showed up in force and, once again, demonstrated the determination, resilience, and desire to improve and win. We’re incredibly proud of everyone’s efforts today. It takes a lot of courage to step onto the mat and compete, but these guys showed up and gave it their all.
