NAME : KIRT BIRD ( AKA Birdy )
NUMBER : #24
POSITION : MIDFIELD
AGE : 35

The man, the myth, the legend! Kirt Bird is joining our ranks this season and we cant wait to get him playing (for more than 5 minutes!).

An absolute bruiser of a midfielder, with a classy left foot and an even classier left hook!

Birdy will definitely bring some steel to our midfield, but is a top bloke to have around the club.

Welcome to Exiles Birdy!

Today Exiles went to Kettering Town Vets with a nice 5-2 win under our belt, but today was not to be our day.

From the off Kettering played great football leaving Exiles to try get into the form they showed in previous games. Within the first 12 minutes came the first goal. A floated in cross, intended for men at back post, caught stand in keeper Matty Ekins out.

From the restart, Exiles started to play football showing the form that from previous games would win matches. Within 5minutes of going a goal down, Andrew Lewis, James Coowar, Ian Young and Lawrence gardener all had shots not troubling the keeper. Then, with a long ball down the middle, Kettering were awarded a free kick - 2-0. Good free kick. With another Exiles attack on the right, James Coowar, with the outside of his foot took a shot that struck the post. 2-0 at half time.

Exiles then moved formation around as the second half started. We seemed to be a lot more solid across the pitch and the defence playing a higher line caught Kettering offside many times. Exiles pushed to get a goal, playing great football, but just couldn’t put the ball in the net.

With Kettering legs getting heavy and tired Exiles pushed hard to score Then with a swift counter attack by Kettering, Exiles were caught out at the back. With Matty Ekin making a great save, the ball landed to a Kettering town player who chipped the ball into the net, 3-0. The game then slowed down with tired legs and both teams playing man for man, tackle for tackle, Andrew Lewis and Dean Masterson with a few shots each but the game ended 3-0. Thank you Kettering for hosting Exiles today.

NAME : TRUNG LE
NUMBER : #20
POSITION : MIDFIELD
AGE : 39

Trung is literally the happiest person you will ever meet and for this reason is a very popular member of the Exiles squad.

When Trung hasn't disappeared for a wee, he will most likely be found bombing up and down the wings, with pace to spare and energy to burn!

This season Trung looks like hes going to be our back up keeper and and after some impressive displays in training, will be pushing for that number 1 Jersey!

NAME : MATT EKINS
NUMBER : #18
POSITION : MIDFIELD
AGE : 39

Again... another new signing for the Exiles and again we've brought in quality!

Matt's an old school left footer but he's shown quickly that he's also an old school footballer, he's physical yet he will just as easy meg you as well as put you on your arse in a 50/50.

Theres a lot of competition going forward this year and Matt will be well involved giving Mike a headache for selection.

Matt's a bloke I'd rather play with over playing against and he'll make a big difference this season

NAME : DEAN MASTERSON
NUMBER : #17
POSITION : MIDFIELD
AGE : 38

Deano is another new addition to our team and has fitted straight in!

After an unsuccessful attempt to burgle Macaulay Culkin's house as part of the wet bandits, Deano decided to give up on his Hollywood dream and start a new life playing for the Exiles.

Dean is an energetic box to box midfielder, adds grit to the midfield, but also has an eye for goal!

Welcome to the Exiles Deano.

Left back/left back

Sometimes we think we are playing with Nigel Winterburn down the left, but we may aswell be because that's what we have with Gaz.

Once he gets up to full speed running down the wing with the ball he's like a steam train (old and puffs alot) that's final destination is slotting one past the keeper.

Gaz is an old school left footer (a rare species) and can whip a dangerous ball in to the box.

Another well liked member of the Exiles squad, we look forward to seeing many more of those mazy runs on a Sunday morning.

Happy birthday Daz!

Daz is another one of our versatile players and is happy to play anywhere, as long as it's for only 5 minutes, as hes needs to have a rest after that! Daz is an old school footballer, who keeps it simple and loves a trundle down the wing. He has been known to deliver some Beckham-esque crosses and always plays with a smile on his face.

Daz is so versatile that he even attempted to play in goal for a game last season. None of us like to remind him of the 327 goals he conceded in the first half!

Daz is a good guy and does alot of work for charity and that's why we love him.

NAME : JAMES COOWAR ( AKA TRIG )
NUMBER : #14
POSITION : FORWARD / MIDFIELD
AGE : 42

Trig is another one of the old school Exiles boys, but what makes him stand out from the rest is ability to find any reason to get naked. This includes before or after matches and even while stretching at training!

I think I can say on behalf of the entire squad that there's not a single part of Trig that we haven't seen without warning!

Trigs a very versatile player and will do what is needed for the team, but the furthest we get him from our own goal the better!

This guy is a hand full and he will brush past anyone with his close control and body strength (mainly because he just loves getting close to anyone).

Trigs a big personality at Exiles and if he's not there, it just doesn't feel right.

Today we welcomed Corby Rising Hope Vets for our 3rd pre-season friendly in a busy schedule, with Covid precautions put into place.

The game started in warm, but cloudy conditions. Exiles started sluggishly and struggled to get going. With their first notable attack of the game, Rising Hope hit the bar from an angled shot. The rebound couldn't be followed up and Sutherland, made a routine save.

The ball spent a fair part of the first 20 mins in the air. The firm pitch meaning alot of contested, bouncing balls as both teams struggled to assert their dominance. Exiles were starting to find some joy down the Rising Hope left. A few whipped in balls caused a few concerns without really troubling the keeper.

Exiles eventually took the lead. A good ball forward dropped to Frenchy, who did well to find a yard of space and fire past the Rising Hope keeper. Exiles started to get on top as the half wore on.

Exiles doubled their lead, with a great curling strike from the captain Andy Lewis - the first of his hat trick - from the edge of the box. The captain has got this type of finish in his locker and was being encouraged to shoot as he found space coming in from the right, Exiles then hit the bar through Lawrence Gardener as they finished the half strong.

2-0

The second half started with a few changes from both sides as the temperature increased with the sun shining down.

Rising Hope grew into the game with a few through balls causing issues. The striker had already caused Sutherland to save a 1 v 1 with his feet, before a 50/50 caused a boot to the face for the Exiles keeper. Thankfully no serious damage was done, but that was the end of the Exiles No. 1's afternoon. Trung Le took over the gloves.

The change of keeper seemed to energise Rising Hope, who quickly pulled one back with a long shot finding the back of the net. 2-1 then became 2-2 as Rising Hope capitalised on an Exiles mistake to draw level.

Some stern words across the Exiles team caused them to push forward and try and regain the lead. The Exiles fitness was starting to show, as they gained a free kick on the left hand side, around 25 yards out. Up stepped Andy 'Cristiano Ronaldo' Lewis to strike a perfect, knuckle ball free kick up and over the wall and into the net. A brilliant free kick and one we will hear about all season.

Exiles really started to press their fitness home as Lewis completed his hat trick and a great curling effort after skirting along the edge of the box.

Exiles final goal game from Paul Coe, who matched the captain's curling effort, with a brilliant finish of his own.

A good morning's work from the Exiles after a slow start. Lots of things to work on, however after a gruellingly hot game on Thursday, the response to losing a 2 goal lead was more evidence of the Exiles grit.

final score 5-2

Man of the Match - Andy Lewis for his hat trick and brilliant free kick.
