Behind_the_bit_of_EzeTiger The wonderful world of Tiger and his training. Plus a few extras included

He’s not always the easiest.
He’s not always the most focused.
He gets overwhelmed by the atmosphere.
And I am terribly anxious sometimes.

Today was tigers 2nd jumping show and he got super wound up on the warm up which left him feeling anxious when entering the actual ring.

This is the best part of his round and he was very backwards but he was very honest. In my head I was absolutely crushing myself because I rode like a sack of potatoes but he just kept going.

We had to circle at the start as he got wound up and threw himself across the arena leaving us with 4 faults but we got a time of 45 seconds.

I tend to beat myself up about it as I feel I’m to blame but sometimes horses just have days where they’re not 100% and today was one of them.

I’ve got a lesson Tuesday to sorting my brain cells out and get me out of the anxious mode.

Overall I’m so proud of him as he jumped well once he got going and I actually rode him properly (not anxiously) you can’t really ask for much more. Just need to work on travelling forward 👍

Now that was an interesting ride🥴

Tiger jumped mega, but he was so strong. We’ve started jumping 60-70cm courses now. He’s got a bit cocky at the smaller heights and decides that he can just kind of be a tit, although he’s not always like this.

First things first.. he took himself out the stable whilst I was putting my boots on (clearly eager to get going)

Then once I’m the arena he had a hissy fit (rear, throw myself in the air and attempt to shoot forward to activate racehorse mode) at another horse that was being walked in hand in the school opposite us😖

Then we got excited coming into an oxer, had zero brakes and took off 2 strides too early (mum you sit there and I will do it whilst doing zoomies😖🥴)

Finally finished by sort of jumping a course which he was super just again no brakes and no turning mechanisms🥴😂

Oh and to top it off he got all excited as we was exiting the arena, at another horse in the arena the other side of us, that was cantering😂

I honestly laughed the whole way through this and it makes me giggle when he gets sassy and excited because he’s like a big giraffe 😂😂

I may need to rethink bit wise, so I have some breaks at least half the time 🤪

We all love tigers antics🥴😂

He is so handsome!

I had a super busy day today with my business but I just had to fit a ride in after work.

We worked on tiger being lighter in the contact and coming up through the shoulder. He was super tonight and he really worked his little socks off.

“Transitions, transitions, transitions” that is what I constantly tell myself. He is so much better when I work on the transitions. I also challenge myself through the months to do no stirrups for 10 mins at the start just to help me feel Tiger underneath me.

I just had one of those riders today where we didn’t do loads but we worked really well from start to finish. That is all I can really ask for 🤗🥰

Little play at home today.

I haven’t actually got any pictures of us jumping at home since we’ve moved. Biggest we’ve jumped since moving to Glebe but was super happy with how he took it in his stride.

Hoping to get a lesson in before Christmas or possibly join a clinic next week!

I’m so grateful for the facilities we have here at Glebe. It’s really is magnificent! ⭐️

Now for me to work on the slightly big heights and watch him grow but for now he can have a day off or maybe it’s that I need a day off 🥴🥴

Remind me why we turn horses out in thick mud again please 😣😖

So the ponies went out today and Mother Nature decided to open the heavens and of course Tiger and misty (more misty) decided to roll in the muddies patch in the field.

I just want to tell you misty became bay for the day and tiger became liver chestnut for the day 😖😫

I am super lucky to be stabled at a yard with a solarium and wash bay. So off we popped down there. Tiger actually went in, he struggles in tight spaces as he gets anxious about getting stuck, after getting cast. But he went in, heat lamps on and a good wash down/mini bath.

Misty is another story, she had a thorough bath and scrub the dirty toe rag! But after a protest about being in there and having water on her (terrible mother Ofc🙄) she now looks sparkly clean and had a good pamper!

Happy ponies now tucked in bed warm, dry and with full bellies!🤩❤️

We’ve moved yards!!

So been really quiet due to my business picking up and moving house, horses and my whole life pretty much. We’ve moved to north Milton Keynes now and horses are now based in northants.

We’re now based at a competition venue, Misty is now retired as she is intermittently lame so it’s the kindest thing for her although she goes on walks.

Tiger is living his best life. We’ve got some new instructors and it’s made a huge difference to him! He had his first competition 2 weeks ago and came 2nd. Such a super boy! I was very proud of him. He was very overwhelmed to start with but once settled took it in his stride!

So a busy last 6 months but overly so pleased with the change in my horses and my life.

My mental health has massively changed and I’ve started to take a more relaxed outlook on life allowing my mental health to not feel pressured (something I regularly do).

So here’s to a new start, roll on 2022👌

A little mental block accomplished yesterday.

Two years ago I had a fall off Misty jumping and sadly I damaged the nerves in my neck leading to continuous headaches and massive knock in confidence.

After that fall, whenever I jumped tiger I always had nerves sitting at the back of me and it was horrible. The amount of times I cried to my instructor saying I can’t do it or I’m s**t is uncountable.

However after 3 weeks of sticking to a routine and maintaining my jump sessions. Yesterday with the support of my better half and .xo I popped it up. To others 90cm might be little or not a very big achievement but to me it’s a massive mental block that just been broken.

I’m so proud of him and myself 🌸

A touch of grass jumping today..

I had my brave pants on. I fractured my pelvis 8 years ago out cross country and I always get nervous when jumping on grass but he took me round like the saint he is.

This was what I got when I bought the saddle in..

Tiger says no. (Farts in my face)

He’s so picky some days he wants to go out, have no brakes and throw me around like a rollercoaster, and some days he likes “no I am now in BFG mode, I will be elegant”

WE LOVE TB’s🤣🤯

So over the last 2 months, I’ve been working with misty on our groundwork. Although she is retired and no longer ridden, she still really enjoys learning and doing new things. We started doing some bit from the ground and well after 2 months this is what we have so far.

We’ve just started to learn the rear on command. Nothing is perfect but she is trying and I am so proud of how well she’s adapting⭐️

I started with some liberty work and worked on her staying with me and understanding when she can come to me and learning different noises.

I throughly enjoy working with her on this 💚
