Clean Up the River Nene Community page to organise regular cleaning of litter from the river Nene.

We will post in advance which area we will take to and when, should anyone wish to join us.

Me and rex cleared up the broken glass on the portage point, on the low side of the higham lock. I did the best I could with a dust pan and brush but there is still loads of bits in the grass. Be careful if you are getting in and out at this point.

So today we went out on the river around stanwick lakes just for a bit of fun... and we came across a rook/crow hanging from its wing, on some fishing line about 8ft in a tree, over hanging the river. We could see it was badly tangled but it still had some fight left in it. Thanks to Max and Harvey we managed to get it down. The bird took a few nips at max's hand but calmed down once she was in the kayak. Also thanks to the unknown stanwick lakes ranger for spotting us on the river and taking the bird in. Hopefully it will recover.
