This is something I have to be conscious of a lot when doing Pilates. The dreaded rib flare. The best bet is to set up before moving, engage the core, then keep this form during the movement, don't forget to breathe ๐Ÿ’จ

I thought I would share my stats from earlier this year to now. I always weigh and measure myself on a sunday morning after I wake up.

It has fluctuated which is normal, but the important thing is, not to give up and remember if I do the right things my body will respond. It will be inevitable.

I have had a bit of random back pain for the past week so my exercises have been gentle and focused on stretching and keeping moving. So i decided to make a quick demo of lateral thoracic breathing. In pilates breathing correctly is so important, to only to get better results but to help get you through the effort and connect with your body.

The ribs go out to the side on our inhale, and then knit together on the exhale without pushing the belly out and in. You can oractise this absolutely anywhere, at the tils during christmas shopping, lying in bed, washing up, cooking etc.

Keep this breathing in mind duding your pilates sessions. The more you practise, the more automatic it will become.
