Thursday 18th June ⛳🌤️

After a grey and overcast start to the morning, the sunshine is beginning to break through with some welcome patches of blue sky appearing over the course. ☀️⛳

It's a busy day for the greenkeeping team as growth continues at pace across the course. Plenty of mowing is taking place today, including the fairways, tees, aprons, collars, approaches, semi-rough, and the banks around the ponds to keep everything looking neat and playing at its best. 🚜🌱✂️

Wishing everyone enjoying a round today a great day on the course! 🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♀️

Thanks to everyone who took part last week! 👏

It's time for another Where Am I Wednesday challenge, and this week we've picked a spot from somewhere different on the course. 👀🌳🏌️

Tuesday 16th June ⛳️🌿 ⚠️

It's a little grey and overcast to start the day, but still very pleasant conditions for the greenkeeping team to get stuck into another busy morning on the course. 👨‍🌾🚜

⚠️ Today's main task is applying a selective herbicide treatment to the fairways to target and control broadleaf w**ds. This helps maintain a cleaner, healthier playing surface by reducing w**d competition and encouraging a stronger, more consistent sward throughout the season. 🌱✅

Alongside this, the team are:
⛳ Cutting the greens
🏖️ Raking and preparing the bunkers
🚩 Finalising course presentation
🏌️‍♀️ Getting everything ready for today's Senior Ladies Open

We'd like to wish all competitors the very best of luck and hope you enjoy your day here at Wedmore. 🌟

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Monday 15th June ⛳🌱

Good morning from the Isle of Wedmore Golf Club!

The greenkeeping team are back for a new week after what feels like an endless spell of weather. With 10 consecutive days of rain combined with some welcome warmth, we’ve seen some incredible growth right across the course. While the moisture has helped recovery and encouraged strong, healthy turf, it also means there’s plenty of mowing to keep the team busy! 🚜✂️

Today’s schedule includes:

✅ Mowing fairways
✅ Mowing tees
✅ Mowing aprons and collars
✅ Mowing approaches and semi-rough
✅ Mowing greens
✅ Raking bunkers

…and that’s all before we head over to pick and cut the driving range! 💪⛳

The forecast this week looks a little more settled, which will give us a great opportunity to keep on top of presentation and continue maintaining playing surfaces across the course.

We hope everyone had a fantastic weekend, and congratulations to all those who competed in the final round of the Club Championship. 🏆👏

Here’s to another great week out on the golf course!

Friday 12th June - ⚠️ Spraying

A grey and overcast start to the day here at Isle of Wedmore Golf Club, but the forecast is looking much more promising, with brighter skies and sunshine expected for the weekend ahead. 🌥️➡️☀️

First thing this morning, the greens team have been out applying a seaw**d and iron treatment to the greens. These applications play an important role in maintaining healthy, resilient turf by encouraging strong plant health, improving stress tolerance and promoting consistent colour throughout the season. Rather than allowing the greens to experience peaks and troughs in performance, we’re following a balanced programme of both liquid and granular applications to keep conditions as steady and consistent as possible. 🌱

Alongside this, we’re continuing to tick off a variety of smaller maintenance jobs around the course, including strimming the island on the 7th pond, tidying around tee signs, and mowing around bunkers and banks to keep presentation standards high. ✂️⛳

This afternoon, the greenkeeping team will begin preparations for the final round of the Club Championship. This includes selecting and setting fresh pin positions, final bunker presentation, mowing and general course tidying to ensure the course is presented at its very best for competitors and members alike. 🏆

Good luck to everyone competing this weekend, and we hope all members enjoy the improving weather and course conditions.

Thursday 11th June 2026

A steady but light rain is currently falling here at Wedmore, but that certainly hasn’t halted the greenkeeping team this morning as we prepare the course for the first round of the Ladies’ Club Championship. ⛳🌧️

The course is looking its best despite what is now nine consecutive days of rainfall. Today’s preparations have included:

✅ Fresh pin positions
✅ Freshly mown greens
✅ Freshly mown fairways
✅ Freshly mown aprons, tees, collars and approaches
✅ Bunkers tidied as best as possible despite the challenging weather

And as a special treat, we’ve even topped up all the ball washers and added a few bubbles! 🍾🐞😉

We’d like to wish all competitors taking part in today’s first round of the Ladies’ Club Championship the very best of luck. Play well, enjoy the challenge, and most importantly, have a great day on the course! 🏌️‍♀️⛳

🌳⛳ Afternoon Tree Care on the Course ⛳🌳

This afternoon, the team has been busy removing ivy from a number of trees around the course, along with clearing a few very low suckers and twigs.

Ivy can hide defects, add unnecessary weight to branches, and compete with the tree for light and resources. Removing it helps us monitor the health of our trees more effectively while also improving visibility, presentation, and playability around the course. 🌿✂️

It's important to note that any major tree pruning or tree surgery is carried out during the dormant autumn and winter months, when it is most appropriate for the trees. Today's work is simply focused on ivy removal and minor tidying.

Small jobs like these are all part of greenkeeping, helping to keep the course looking its best while protecting the natural environment that makes our course so special. 👨‍🌾🚜⛳

Tuesday 9th June 2026 ⛳🌦️

A mixed start to the day here at Isle of Wedmore, with bright blue skies interspersed with some fast-moving showers. Temperatures are feeling a little on the chilly side for June, but the forecast is looking much more promising, with conditions expected to brighten up through late morning and into this afternoon. 🌤️

Out on the course today, we’re taking the opportunity to verticut the greens. Verticutting is a maintenance process that uses vertical blades to gently cut through the turf canopy, removing excess lateral growth, organic matter and unwanted surface debris. At this time of year, it is particularly beneficial in helping to reduce the impact of seed heads, which can affect the smoothness and consistency of the putting surface.

The result is a cleaner, more upright plant, allowing the grass to stand taller and produce a firmer, truer and smoother putting surface. Regular verticutting also improves ball roll and helps maintain healthy, high-quality greens throughout the season. 🌱⛳

Elsewhere on the course, members of the team are busy trimming around tee block markers and 150-yard markers, while also overseeding and dressing some worn and bare areas around collars and tees to encourage recovery and maintain presentation standards. 🌾🚜

Have a great day if you’re out on the course and enjoy the improving weather! 😎🏌️‍♂️
