🌱 Tuesday 15th September ⛳️

A little light drizzle first thing this morning 🌦️, but that’s now blown through and we’re looking set for a dry day ahead. A little breezy, with a mixture of blue skies, broken cloud and some bright sunshine ☀️💨

The grass is growing at quite a rate now, so we’re keeping on top of the mowing and tackling the growth across the course 🌱✂️

Meanwhile, we’re getting stuck into some of our autumn drainage projects, starting today at the 13th green 🚜💧. Plenty more to follow as we work through the areas that struggled during the wetter months.

Autumn jobs are well and truly underway! 🍂⛳️

🌱 MONDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER ⛳️

A great start to the week with the full team in today and plenty getting done as we prepare the course for the week ahead. 💪🌿

This morning has seen a fresh mow of the fairways, tees, aprons, collars and greens, while the bunkers have been freshly raked and the driving range picked and cut. 🏌️‍♂️

The new 10th green has also had another cut — something we’re now doing several times a week as it continues to establish nicely. 👌⛳️

🌧️ 4mm of rain recorded overnight, followed by a light drizzle first thing. It’s been an overcast but very mild morning, and the grass is certainly making the most of it — growing at a rapid rate! 🌱

And with the recent weather, it’s great to see those defined Wedmore stripes back in play! 💚

A little overseeding has also taken place around some collars and other areas that have struggled through the summer, helping give them the best possible start as we head into autumn. 🌾

All systems go at Wedmore! 🚜⛳️

🌿 Friday 11th September | Fresh Hole Friday 🏌️‍♂️⛳

It’s been a quieter couple of days on the socials while we’ve enjoyed some planned leave, but we’re back at it — and what a day to return to! ☀️💙 A stunning morning here in Wedmore, with 3mm of rain overnight and 20mm for the week. It’s been very welcome, helping replenish the ponds 💧 and, combined with the mild conditions, the moisture is bringing fantastic recovery and excellent growth right across the course.

Our mowing regimes are now back in full flow, and today, as we host our Seniors Mixed Open, the course is looking its best. Greens, tees, collars and aprons freshly cut, bunkers raked and, of course, fresh pin positions ready for the weekend competitions and the week ahead. ✂️⛳ With the extra growth and increased mowing, the definition is really starting to stand out again — and those famous Wedmore stripes are back! 👌🌱

Good luck to everyone playing this weekend — we hope you enjoy the course and, most importantly, enjoy your golf! 🏌️‍♀️🏌️‍♂️

🌧️ Tuesday 8th September | Daily Course Update ⛳️🌱

It’s been a much quieter morning than usual out on the course, with steady rainfall overnight and into this morning. We’ve recorded around 18mm of rain in the last 24 hours 💧

And once again, this rainfall is doing the ground conditions the world of good. It’s certainly noticeable now, with the course really starting to green up 🌱. The fairways are showing some fantastic signs of recovery, while the semi-rough and rough are growing away at quite a rate!

Today’s jobs include:

✂️ Cutting the semi-rough and approaches
⛳️ Cutting around bunkers and banks
🌾 Cutting the rough for the first time in several weeks — probably since midsummer!
🔧 A spot of plumbing
⚡ Some electrical work
🛠️ Maintenance on the greens mower
🚜 Getting the trencher ready as we look ahead to installing some new drainage in key areas of the course that struggled last winter.

More on the drainage work to follow… 👀💧

Yesterday, the start of a brand-new week, saw us out cutting the greens, tees, aprons, collars and fairways, as well as giving the bunkers a good tidy-up. ⛳️✂️

Temperatures have dropped a little, but thankfully the rain is clearing this afternoon 🌦️, with the remainder of the week looking much more settled.

A busy day in the greenkeeping world — and a good reminder that the job is about much more than just cutting grass! 🌱🔧⚡️

🌿 **THURSDAY 3rd SEPTEMBER **⛳️

Good morning from the course! 👋

Today we’re starting the day with slightly overcast skies, mild temperatures and a gentle breeze — pretty decent greenkeeping weather! 🌥️🌱

Following the recent rainfall, the grass is showing excellent signs of recovery and is now growing at quite a rate. We’ve already cut the fairways once this week, and they’re not far off needing a second cut already! 🌱✂️

The semi-rough, approaches, banks and surrounds are also looking incredibly lush and thick following the rain, so they’ve received a much-needed cut this morning. 🌿

The greens have been cut and given a light top dressing. ⛳️ A light dusting of sand helps to smooth and level the putting surface, improve surface drainage and maintain a consistent, healthy playing surface without significantly disrupting play.

The bunkers have also been freshly raked this morning, keeping them tidy, consistent and ready for play. 🏖️

A busy start to the day, with plenty more to get through! 💪
